Me and Whiteguy3 just finished installing a gen3 subframe into his atx. This proved to be much easier than in an mtx. No modification is necessary to the trans mount and the rear motor mount. The front motor mount hole needs to be moved over 2 inches and raised.

He created himself an all metal solid motor mount a few months ago so he just added some spacers onto the bottom of that.

One thing you need to know when using a gen1/2 rack. the studs need to be swapped from a gen3 rack into yours, the gen2 is too short. also, you need the swaybar brackets for the gen3 as well. other than that, this thing bolts up perfect.

Fps tranny w/ 3.98 gears :) Pink is pretty:swing:

Once all this gets done then the tri-flows go in.

yeah the front anyways. we actually didnt get it going today, because of those steering rack studs. All the reading we did about it no one ever said that. probably because most people use the zf rack. hopefully scott will get it done while im at work tomorrow.

edit: and yesterday my car got an fpr and 255 pump :)

about 5/8ths. the same height you need to raise an mtx. basically doing exactly what you do to an mtx car without changing the trans mount.

not looking forward to doing it on my mtx

I thought the basic point of the Gen 3 subframe upgrade was the zf rack.

Nope, better suspension geometry and gets rid of the strut rod receivers. Makes launches better, and I guess cornering better as well. I believe you use Gen3 knuckles as well, which means the wheel bearing comes out with 3 bolts.

Nice looking subframe. What kind of prep work did you do? Paint or powdercoat?

Thats all Scotts work. He wire wheeled the whole thing and then primered and used VHT Epoxy. Turned out great. I think ill use Duplicolor gunmetal with a clearcoat.
