Yeah, when I walk into a parts store, I just tell them I need this part number. They ask, make and model? I say, don't bother, I already looked it up. Just give me this list...

I have my very own monitor to look up parts.
They also stock a few specific sho parts just for me.

I was reading through this and laughing. YOu know there is a section on SHOTImes similiar to this thread.
I remember on time I was in brooklyn and guys at this one shop tried to fabricate a solod motor mount for me. They didn't make it that day, so they ended up putting chrome steel peice instead until I get another mount so that they can do something else. So i finally got one from my parts car they did the work, but were too busy to install it. I wanted to go racing or something, so went to this 24hour shop and told them what I need. The guy was so conviced that my Gen 2 was V8. I even told him what to do and how to do it. He was also telling me that it is a bid V8 and there is no room to work on and he would have to take all the accessories off and so on. After I told him that he can make me leave and not make 70 bucks in about 30 min if he doesn't listen, he agreed. After looking at the engine from top and bottom and installing mount with just taking off radiator hose, he still told me that it is a V8. I couldn't belive it. I called both of my friends-mechanics up in front of that mechanic and asked how is it possible that a person cannot see that there is not enough cylinders to make it a V8, they all just laughed into the phone.

After getting hosed too many times because of quick " code scans" and incorrect dealer electronic diagnosis - with no live data feeds to pinpoint transient problems that set codes.... I finally did what I wanted to do all along....bought a first class scanner that is CANOBD2 capable (may not be the correct descriptor) for new 2010 standards. Even does some pre 96 vehicles. It can be configured to trigger and capture data before and after the trigger fault and does most ABS sensor and tests. Gives one a real sense of freedom...like someone just handed you the key to the kingdom. Best of all the new scanners can be had for about $175.00 delivered and these are typical name brands black or orange etc.:nut:

He's from Canuckistan. Cut him some slack or I'll use you as the subject of a good sig quote for someone.

At the parts counter I normally keep an eye on the monitor as they click through it... I have to keep telling them to go back because they keep clicking on the wrong Taurus parts...:smash:

I went through this with my SHO, and now I'm going through it with my SRT-4... And the worst part is every part I buy from them even if I watch the computer screen like a hawk they seem to just have wrong part #'s I get neon stuff all the time. Now I know if it's in stock.. it's not for my SRT..

Same when my friend gets parts for his Volvo S60r.. Autozoo gives him s60 parts every time..
