Hi,

I searched, and found a few threads which mention Josh has (had?) these available... I'm a bit of a newbie, so who is Josh?

I'd be looking to buy adjustable timing sprockets, and possibly adjustable inner cam gears if anyone makes them.

Alternatively, I could take them to a machine shop to have them modified for adjustability...

Any advice/help is appreciated.

Thanks!

Excellent. Thanks for the quick response.

Just checked out his site, and it appears he offers the whole set of six gears, which is great. (I'm emailing to verify)

I would only both with them if you have cams other then stock.

I actually plan to use stock cams for a while after rebuilding my motor, as I don't have $700 to drop at that time.

I talked to an engine builder about using a degree wheel for timing, and he said manufacturer timing marks are often not very accurate. Although I'd hold the Yamaha engineers to a higher degree (no pun intended) of accuracy, with four cams there's chance that the factory timing won't bring all four to the same spec.

Regardless, I will be getting larger cams down the road and will need them anyway.

Put the money you would spend on the cams and gears and buy yourself a turbo as you'll be much happier :).

I would wait on the cam sprockets until you have aftermarket cams.

Ha. I hear what You're saying. I know the SHO motor takes very well to boost, but I'm a NA guy, which is the reason I chose to get one of these motors in the first place. Mine will be a strictly NA build.

I never tried but power can be gained by changing the degree of the stock cams. Anytime you make a major change to the intake or exhaust side of a engine, degree the cams even if there stock cams.

If I were a betting man, I would think that the stock cams are degreed for a restrictive factory exhaust. At least they should have from the factory. So it depends....
