The people I talked to during the Chicago launch said that E85 was for sure being looked into, maybe they got things up to ***** by production time. But I was under the impression that the current fuel system would not be up to task volume-wise. At least not with the safety margins that FORD wants. But I agree that the system itself is most likely designed in such a way that it can run E85 without corrosion issues.

Ford would not have fuel maps that can correct for the lower BTUs of E85 in the PCM if it could not handle it. Just my opinion I guess.

In taking the 10,000' view....

When I got into the "turbo world" 5 years ago when I bought the LGT, I have since learned that changing turbos is a huge change. I have previously likened it to changing cams in an engine, but I would say that it's even a bigger deal than that. Tuning is super-critical to keep from producing a pile of junk metal.

I would really like to see a well-broken-in 10,000-mile SHO do the best it can with the stock turbo and aftermarket mods (up/down pipes, exhaust, intake, intercooler(s), tuning, etc) before anybody messes with new turbos.

Oh, and it isn't all about "more boost". It's where the boost comes in that matters.

I'm sure the PCM can handle it. I don't think that's what's at question here. the question is, can the fuel system internals handle it?

Need to adjust that wastegate ;) glad they made them adjustable! It can make a big difference. Aftermarket ones especially but maybe adjusting stock will help hold that boost a little longer.

That's so "90s".

With tuning, nobody F-s with the wastegate anymore.

E85

1) Garrett is the aftermarket brand name for Honeywell turbos. Honeywell is the OEM turbo brand name.

2) I wouldn't automatically assume it's E85 friendly just because it has the table in it. All of the gaskets and engine componants have to be E85 friendly too or else the alcohol can deteriorate them. I'm not sure it is E85 firendly and as someone else mentioned, they talked to a SHO engineer/specialist from Ford at the conv. that said it was still in the works, but not availible yet. So maybe they just put the tune in there for future models that have the proper hardware to match

3) Yes, by nut and threaded rod. Good luck reaching the rear one though.
Hi all first post

Running 100% ethanol or alcohol in an engine can cause damage to cork products.

The rubber neoprene used in the last 20 + years is resistant to the drying effect that ethanol may have.

Today's vehicles are built to withstand the corrosive effects of water in ethanol and gasoline. Any vehicle built since 1985 will have no ethanol related issues. Older vehicles that used more steel in the fuel systems or cork gaskets may have issues from long term exposure to water.

Oh yea, I forgot most states mandate between 10-15% ethanol in the gasoline now, so it makes sense all cars have to be ethanol safe.

Well to get back to the first post the GT15 could only flow good air to about 12-15psi then it is nothing but hot air. You could always look into getting your turbo reworked so that it could still go in using the factory brackets and piping. That is were I would start just because of the fact there is less modifying of the factory parts to put it in and it cost less if you do not drive the car over the winter just to take the turbos out of your car and send them out to get reworked. If you go to this web page you could see the flow chart of a GT15 turbo

http://www.atpturbo.com/root/maps/gt15.htm

That web site also has a large listing of other turbos that you could look at.

im getting late. but just in case.. this car can run E85, it can be tuned as well running e85.

Im with Ron, i have a timeline that im creatin for myself on when bigger mods will be available and bigger turbos and all the custom crap are no where on the list. (my list) The car has a ton of potential, just have to squeez every last drop out before we start making things like that. Others will and it will suck just like a V6 SHO or V8 SHO when you add a supercharger, or even a turbo.

as far as manual boostcontrollers that wont work either (I think) its mostly electronic and has a Map sensor to defeat like all cars and it has TCBP (Turbo Charger Boost pressure) Sensor, plus two blow off valves and the wastegates.

Wastegates are also painted in a certain place and an adjustment here will be noticeable to Ford when the engine goes SSSSSSSSSSS(wait for it) BOOM! and you go in complaining about the motor or turbo dying.

There are also lots of safeguards on this motor so it dont blow up. Tuning properly and SAFELY will be the best ave for a few years.

Do we even have a compressor map for the stock turbos?

if no one has this, or has seen the map how can we know what the turbos efficiency range is?

and thanks for the conformation on the e85 fuel friendly. i could have sworn i heard that it was.

Big turbos would ROCK - I'd also like to see a single-turbo combo with this.

btw,....what's the stock boost level??
