About this Time last year we had a pretty decent Meet at John's house (With an Awsome trip to OCS!).

Just to put this out there, I would be more then Happy to host a meet at my House. I don't have a Garage but I have PLENTY of property for plenty of cars. I have no intention of putting a track event like John did however.

However, If anyone has any other suggestions, Throw them out there! Let's get the ball rolling.

SHO meet

I'm in Sam. Great to see we still have interest in getting together. The nice weather begs for it.

I had blocked Oct 25th Sunday for a possible meet date at my place -- late enough in the hurricane season so we don't get washed out.

future meet

How many of you have visited the NC Transportation museum in Spencer, NC?
They have several nice displays including the Flue shop where they have several antique cars on display. They have also restored the round house. This is a working display of the shop where the steam locomotives and railroad cars were repaired and rebuilt. They also offer a train ride on the property ending at the turn around at the round house. There are also picnic tables and a large parking lot or if we are lucky we may be able to get the show field to park our cars in. We would probably have to make plans for this meet 6 months or more in advance or we could just cruise in and park in the parking lot. It makes a nice meet for the whole family.

How are we going to decide what to do? There are some good ideas here.

1) JD has offered to host a meet on Oct 25th.

2) Sam has also offered his domicile for a meet.

3) Henry has suggested visiting the NC Transportation museum in Spencer, NC.

4) Several have commented about going to the North Carolina Autocross Championship Oct. 10th -11th at the Greensboro coliseum. Would anyone like to work a meet around this?

It's good to hear ideas. Now what are we going to do?

By the way, JD-would it be possible to get something set up at OCS again?

The weekend of Oct 11 might work out well for me as long as we do our thing early Saturday or anytime Sunday. My girl and I will be in Charlotte that Saturday (the 11th I think) to see Widespread Panic and the Allman Bros, I'm sure I'd be able to finagle a SHO day out of the weekend too :thumb: Aside from that, I'm free all other weekends as of now, though something in the back of my head is telling me the first weekend in October is no good also but oh well.

I thought, since you would be in Charlotte, you would be going to the Panthers/Redskins game! I'm just glad it will be on cable here.

The Transportation museum can be done about any time as long as we don't make it a car show. The parking lot is large enough we could probablt all park together. We could even do this after the weather turns a little cooler. Most of the displays are inside. If there is any interest I can get some information and post it here.

We could probably do OCS again if there is interest. That seemed like a good experience for first-timers like me, but maybe less interesting for the experienced racers.

Alternatively, we could just do the usual social meet, complete w/ food and good conversation. this is a much lower-maintainence approach. I think if we can keep up these types of gatherings, then we open the door to future meets w/ more people.

So far we have three for a meeting at JD's and 1 for NC Transport Museum. Let's hear from everyone else!

Count me in for a meet at JD's, it's just under 3 hours from where I'm living now, which really isn't any farther than where I was living in NC last year. I'd love to do the Transportation museum, I absolutely love trains and would love to check it out sometime, but it's almost 4 hours from me and I'd like to keep the drive as short as possible this time around - the SHO isn't in top shape. I'd also love to do OCS again, but I think I'd rather just have an all day social, check out cars deal. I need to redo the rear suspension on my SHO before tracking it, it's honestly getting scary; the car becomes a hovercraft on real bad bumps and potholes.

JD's sounds good to me if it is not the weekend we leave on vacation and if I have my SHO back from having the ATX changed to a MTX. I would really like to drive it to the first get together I attend. To me that is the fun of getting together, driving your pride and joy.
