Part number F3DF-18D419-AD

made in 2000

Its a hard button with the fan speed ring with "bubbles" on it instead of "lines"

Engineering number F5DF-18C612-ACSR

It blows hot air all the time (but at OFF it works fine lol) , tells -40....

Im guessing its not comming off a taurus (2000) and its probably not wired correctly. I bought the car , it was already in ....but never actually worked properly.

So the question is , what car it comes from so I can re-wire it...

Google comes in with 0 results.

thanks

Probably came out of a lincoln continental. I had one like that once, bought it for the upgrade, and it didn't work right at all. The wiring is different. You can search on here to find out that some people have changed just the newer face plate, and made them work.

The F5DF-18C612-AC comes up in the parts catalogue cross reference as being for 1995 Taurus and Sable with EATC. Service part number it goes to is F4DZ 19980 A.

It may be from an Exploder. The one I have in pieces and not working it from an Exploder. The one you have may be a hack job with an exploder face, on a Taurus case. This is what I was going for, but never got it to work at all.

The F5DF-18C612-ACSR engineering number indicates that this is a dealer warranty service replacement unit for the softbutton EATCs (note the "SR" at the end of the suffix portion of the part number). I believe that all the service replacement units have a 1995 part number (ie. F5xF-18C612-xCSR), despite their actual date of manufacture. I can tell you it is NOT a service replacement unit for either a Taurus/Sable (-ECSR / green display) or Continental (-BCSR / green display).

Other options include Crown Vic, Grand Marquis, Lincoln Town Car, and Mark VIII.

What color is the display? Blue-green or Green?

The back-case? Blue, Dark Gray, Green, Tan, Yellow?

The casing is black , but I do not have the sticker on the other side saying "BLACK" or "BEIGE" like its supposed to. Its not ripped off , there aint no stickers period.

I got DN5 and Tester #4 on it.

I found in the back it written S2 and FXXX-18c612-XX

But If its too much a pain Im grabbing a parts car today , ill swap the front end.

Is it possible it has the taurus EATC case with the other car's EATC guts?

No idea , I bought it already in , never tested it that much until recently , it rained like **** and my windows were all foggy....

Maybe the guy who had it before me only installed it but never tested it either....

What color is the display? Blue-green (hardbutton) or Green (softbutton)?

Are the display numbers for the temperature smaller than a "typical" EATC display (compared to softbutton or OEM hardbutton EATCs)?

Skimming through some service manuals, I'm willing to bet it could be off of a 2000 crown vic. I have the wiring diagram to the EATC for both the 95 sho and the crown vic if your interested; its a little too big to upload on photbucket though.

Update , I soldered the damn thing using this thread : http://www.shoforum.com/showthread.php?t=24248&highlight=EATC

Took the face and its circuit board , and soldered it to a soft button circuit. Works alot better now , but yea I still have some little bugs like the foot blower doesnt engage. Probably due to poor soldering , I used a huge welding gun while it should take a small pencil-like soldering tool.

Yeah that's one of those odd-ball Lincoln ones with the smaller displays. I've NEVER seen them in a Taurus directly from the factory. I snagged the traditional regular 95 EATC out of a Sable at the junkyard. It's just like the soft button ones (for Gen 2's with the blue-green display) but just has the harder buttons--nothing like the one pictured. I saved it for when I get my Gen 2.

Edit: It's a Crown Vic/Marquis EATC. Here's the Ebay Item # 230354588240

I didn't post the link since we're not supposed to even though it's just to show what I'm talking about.

Look at the image below and enlarge it to full-size.

The unit on top is a dealer warranty service replacement for/from a Lincoln Continental. Note the smaller border around the faceplate, as well as the later-style fan-speed wheel (ie. has "bumps" instead of grooves). You cannot see it in the image below, but while the display window is the same size, the "numbers" portion of the display that displays the inside/outside temperature is smaller than the OEM unit:

Th DSC01613

The bottom unit (above) is from a 1995 Sable wagon. It too is a service replacement unit, but it has the green (versus blue-green) display that was used in the 95 Taurus/Sable.

nope , its like a hardbutton , but the fanspeed wheel is the same.

Oh I misread the post. Wow, looking at those two, I've never seen one like the top one with the bumps on the fan wheel. The one I got from the J/Y has the grooves, and I assume it's got the larger blue-green display. I like the larger numbers.

Sorry for not posting-back sooner . . . .

  • F5DF-18C612-ACSR / 1994 Lincoln Town Car (xxxxxx display / black housing)

  • F5DF-18C612-BCSR / Lincoln Continental (green display / beige housing)

  • F5DF-18C612-ECSR / Ford Taurus/Mercury Sable (green display / yellow housing)

These units were also used in the Crown Vic, Grand Marquis, and Lincoln Mark VIII. I suspect these will be the "-CCSR", "-DCSR", "-FCSR" service replacement part numbers.

If you have/see/come across one of these service replacement units, PLEASE record the appropriate information (ie. engineering part number, display color, housing color, etc.), as well as the date of manufacture is the label is still on the EATC housing.

I'll come-back and edit-in the additional information posted, for future reference.
