From what I understand the stock oil pump (Gen 1) is rated at 12.1 gpm @ 6400 rpm and 43 psi.

But what does the flow rate curve look like - gpm versus developed head (psi).

And what is the flow rate at various rpm's?

Is it just linear - e.g. 6 gpm @ 3200 rpm, 3 gpm @ 1600 rpm, etc?

Couldn't find anything by searching.

Thanks.

It's a positive displacement gear pump and the flow should be linear with rpm.

OK. I thought it was a centrifugal pump like the water pump. If it is a gear pump then it should be linear as you state.

Another question -

Why doesn't the oil pump ever have to be replaced like the water pump?

Does the oil pump ever "wear out'?

I've never heard of anyone having to replace the oil pump as a maintenance item or is it just because it is so rare.

Thanks.

They seem to wear very little.
2 big hardened gears running in an aluminum housing sutrrounded by oil.

I have taken several apart, and there is usually just some very fine grooves in the aluminum housing. The last couple I checked, were within spec.

It has always been my understanding that oil pumps on SHO motors will last longer than plastic in a landfill.
