1.)
BIGGER BRAKES. Ford, you goobered the first time around with the brakes... please don't do it again. You did so good with the rest of the car! Or, at the very least, if they aren't already, make the brake parts interchangeable with mustang brakes, so as to make it easy for us to modify them ourselves. 2 pots would be good up front, and 4 pots would be awesome. I think 6 is a little overkill. And for gosh sakes, can you make them fill those enormous 20" wheels up some more? They look kinda silly. It's nice that you can bleed them with the wheels on, but still...
2.)
A dedicated transmission. Ford, I realize that building a manual transmission costs a
lot of money. You have to recertify with crash tests, fuel tests, insurance tests, not to mention the millions of R&D and testing you'd have to do. I understand. You went there with the ATX for the '93 MY. We know. But for pete's sake, please give it a stronger transmission. It's all but blindingly obvious that the engine's power is what it is because of the transmission. Again, you goobered the first time by giving it a (barely) gussied-up taurus transmission that simply couldn't handle the power as soon as slight mods were made. The 6F55 is nice, but can we have, say, a 6F75? The two biggest criticisms of the original SHOs were crappy brakes and weak transmissions. These are the two areas which you need to focus on most.
3.) Forged internals. Yes, I realize this is going to drive the cost of the engine up. But one of the most important things an engineer must understand is human nature. You engineers
have to know that the first thing people are going to do is either push the turbos harder, or make them bigger, or both. It's inevitable. It's an enthusiast engine for an enthusiast car, and enthusiast modifications are going to be done. Don't make us spend a lot of money in parts and labor to get aftermarket forged rods. Something tells me that the EB going into the Mustang is going to be stronger. Just a hunch. Can you carry some of those improvements into the SHO?
4.) Why can't I have the track pack
and (for example) heated rear seats? I'm paying damn near $45,000 for this car (which, in case you didn't know, is a lot), and you're gonna tell me what I can and can't have on it?
5.) Throw that god#%*n engine cover away. W. T. F. I'm driving a car with balls, not a tonka toy. Present it as such. I don't care if I see the COPs.
But overall, it seems like a pretty kick-ass car. Yes, it has faults. Every car in the history of the planet in its first MY has faults. It's a fact of life. The true test is to see whether Ford is willing to fix them and make them better. Your ancestors weren't willing to do so the first time around. Here's to hoping you do better!
