head gaskets are made by felpro now so they are were around 150 when I bought mine last spring. also keep in mind you do NOT have to replace your valve cover gaskets just use RTV. It will save you a bundle of money.



do not have your crank turned. They are surface hardened, so if it is machined you are removing the hardening and that is how you snap a crank if you decide to put down some serous power later down the road...

Second... I mean a full gasket kit, upper and lower from RCM is like 550. Now that im boring it though it will be cheaper cause 3.2 head gaskets are cheaper than 3.0...

If not more than 25 PSI, I would not recommend 8.5:1 compression. I think he'd be happier with 9 - 9.5:1.

Thats what i was thinking.. Stock is 9.8 IIRC, so if you stick NA or go alittle boost i imagine it will feel like a DOG..

Based on my experience w/ the M90 on my former Ranger, I'd say you'll be lucky to get over 6 psi w/ the M90 unless you are going to either way over-rev the M90 or reduce the redline on the engine.

The stock M90 is rated to 12500 rpm. Guys have definitely run them faster, but at some point they will either grenade, or the rotors will wear the housing and the efficiency will fall off the map.

The pulley size depends on what generation of M90 you are getting, but its limited to around 2.6" unless the snout has been turned down for most of the versions. Stock pulleys are generally around 3 to 3.25".

If you are thinking of changing the compression you need to fire off a email ASAP. I am assuming you ordered through shonut. I am not sure that he woould process a order on a saturday or sunday for a company that likely only works monday-friday.

with 8.5 to 1 youll want mega boost..... sorry if im not being terriably helpful.. I jsut slept for 4 hours. And i don't know anything about the M90. But i do now if you lower the compression that much your going to need to add some serious boost to get the air pressure back up.. How much under stock that motor would make.. idk. i havn't finished the motor on desktop dyno..

My current race SHO 3.0L came from an '89 donor SHO with 195,000 miles. Orginally, I tanked and honed the block; keeping everything stock in the short block except the pistons. Nothing was done to the crank and no I didn't use 3.2L rods. Have yet to find the HP limit.

Here are some charts that should help you:

The early supercharged T-Bird/XR7 (89-93) had the oval inlet like the one on the right in this photo. The later ones (94-95) had the rectangular inlet. The later one is more efficient and made the same boost on the 3.8 w/ a larger pulley on the blower - 3.25" v. 3.125" iirc.

Since the displacement of the blower (90 in^3) is approximately the same as the amount of air the engine flows in one revolution (183/2), you will need to run the blower 2x engine speed to get approx 1 atm (14 psi) boost (minus losses, plus heat gain) in very rough terms. Since the blower isn't rated to turn 15k rpm, that's why I wrote what I did in my earlier post.

The m90 has been shown that it is not big enough for the SHO. It runs out of breath at 5500 or so. By 7000 its exahusted. But it still adds tons of TQ real quick!! It is not the ideal blower for the SHO motor. An m112 would be a better choice.

However an m90 with a remote turbo would be ooo so awesome TQ down low and turbo for high rpms

welll... let me say this... i happened to get the charger for 30 bucks so guys... you cant beat it lol. im going to port it i think tis the oval one i have it to my buddy to do some bracket engineering as hes doing the same build that i am.

I have also read that wither welding or JB wleding the case on the rear and filing in the webbing you can spin it much higher than 14k so heres what im thinking... 2:1 drive ratio should work perectly... 7000 RPM or so X2 = 14k...

and hey that remote mount tubo is a decent idea! i may have to add that on later!

as for the pistons, Josh is awsome and he worked his awsomness and he changed the order to 9:1 so im happy. i should be able to make up for that its all coming together now. i also just finished installing my 8" lilliput touchscreen for my "carputer" so i can tune my engine via tweecer on my touchscreen ill upload pics later. and cred has to go my my buddy he has this setup already in his SHO i just copied him (to a certain extens my screen is an inch bigger lol.
