I live in the Seattle area and I have a '95 ATX SHO. It currently has the Michelin MXV4 plus in the stock 215/60 16 size. I upgraded the suspension with Koni adjustables, Eibach progressives, and sub-frame connectors. I am looking to upgrade to the Yokohama AVS ES100's in the 225/55 16 size. I have performed several searches and one or two said that they were thinking about them also, but I didn't see a update. I have read the reviews on Tirerack.com and they are very good.

I drive the car aggressively and throughout the year in all road condition except for snow over a half inch. My question is this. Who has run these tires? How did they handle in dry AND wet? Are the fairly quiet? How is the tread wear?

Your input and suggestions are greatly appreciated! burn_out

I imagine they'll handle great in the wet. They're probably terrible in the snow and not necessarily very quiet (what ultra high performance tire is?)

I'll probably be getting these tires when I get new rims. I've run many sets of AVS-I and the AVS ES-100 is the spiritual succesor to the AVS-I.
I don't think you are going to find any ultra high performance dry/wet tire that can deal with snow.

I got the first hand reviews of a SHO owner that had installed a set of the 225/55-16 ES100 tires on the stock slicers of his 1991 SHO before the LSSHOC Fall Run. He gave glowing and enthusiastic comments regarding their dry and wet road traction.

I am also considering installing a set of the 235/45-17 size on my wife's 2000 Maxima SE. For the price, they are probably hard to beat. The OEM Bridgestone RE92s are not known for any kind of performance characteristics. They aren't even lasting as long as the much higher performing Bridgestone RE730s on my harder driven SHO.

Can you picture the two, white sports sedans in our garage? The SHO can not only run off and leave the auto trans Max in the dust, but it looks much more aggressive. The Max looks like a trim package job with the spoiler and trim pieces. (Her Max has the 222 hp engine).

It's good to hear those comments about the tires. There might be higher performance tires, but like you say they are probably going to be hard to beat for the price. I figure it's worth a set to find out. thumbs_u

Thanks for the replys to the question on the Yokohama ES100 tires. I just had them installed and I LOVE them! They have great handling, response, smooth ride, quiet, and looks! I went with the 225/55 16 size.

If you are wondering why my name is JUDDBLADE instead of SHOBLADE, let me explain. I went into the "View/change my profile" and made a couple of additions. My email address was the old one and I meant to change it. I logged out and when I went to log back in and change the email address to the correct one it wouldn's let me in. I have tried everything I know and had no luck so I started a new screen name. I have emailed the main contact ( [email protected] ) three times and still haven't heard anything.

Does anyone have another contact to get this handled?

Again, THANK YOU for the info on the tires.
