I think a key thing to mention here is John, Andrew and myself are also customers of this person. He has thousands of our dollars in his pocket and we aren't just a person inquiring.

Yet, you didn't know that he's "aerospace"? LOL! You guys just hand over your money without knowing the background of the person/company?

Sounds like he welcomes all input and suggestions so long as they agree with his.

He's a legitimate company and seller/designer of parts. That part isn't in question. And tbh, although I would have done it differently, the product is a sound one. He just went unglued on us over something pretty trivial. Very fragile engineer ego. And his behavior after that..with posting publicly, yeah...all very interesting behavior for a company to have.

I'm a bit curious how those AN oil lines will be run. A 90deg bend, depending on size, could stick out as much as 2" from the side. Hopefully, it'll fit with the tight clearances of that area in the engine.

But honestly, I'm tired of talking about him. I wish him the best and maybe it'll be an awesome product, I just won't be partaking in it...

I have no dog in the fight, nor a need for this upgrade. I'm an older dude with a tune on my SHO. I won't be the first to hit 10s in my SHO.

Just seems like you guys were surprised when he threw out the "aerospace" comment. Like you had no idea who the guy was. I'm a bit surprised that you weren't already working with him on your far superior design for this mod. Seems like you might have a good idea there.

No, I wasn't surprised, I knew his background and I had actually built, I thought, a good relationship with him, it just turned on a dime.

...he was using that he is "aerospace" to basically discredit anything we have to say and throw it in our face...like he is better than us because he has that degree. "I'm aerospace and know what I'm doing/talking about and you have no idea what you're taking about". Except we've got real world experience on these components. We were simply passing on what we've learned "in the field" to a guy who has no experience at all with this platform. The intent was to help him get a better understanding of the shortcomings and failures so that he, the engineer here, could address those issues using engineering methods/concepts. But he got all butt hurt, behaved like an angsty emo teenager and did the whole "block and publicly post DMs" move...so childish...

I get it, man. He makes a one-off part for a customer, based on that customer's specs, and asks how it could be improved for a later/different product. Then you guys go crazy on what is wrong with the product he has agreed to make.

This guy is not the PR part of the operation, obviously. At least he's making something.

To reiterate... do you guys have the improved/better/superior product ready to be made? In testing?

Got it! Ask for input, get input, berate your customers for input, and implement some of their input.

Whatever. Like you, I'm not making this product. Dude is definitely a douche answering questions. I'll hold out for your version of this mod.

You really don't. Dude advertised a not ready for prime-time part that someone asked him to make. He should have just made it and shut up. He really, really should not have asked for input on improving it. He might have made something worse than the stock part, but he was asked to and did so. You guys are free to improve upon it or make an entire new part.

Or we could sit here happily with our oem PTU and be fine if we maintain if, For the most part that is.

Help. I'm new to the SHO ranks and one thing that has bothered me about this car since I bought it is there is a slight vibration in the car above 25 mph and onto highway speeds but is reduced at higher speeds. I've had the tires rotated and balanced with no change but it always felt "mechanical" to me anyway. Is this possibly the PTU going out?

I thought I'd leave this here since some people may not actually understand how the PTU and the transmission are linked together. It's interesting video to view.

Very good video explaining what's going on in the PTU. Only significant difference in our platform is the idler gear that sits in between the ring gear and pinion gear inside the PTU. It's this idler gear, or more specifically the bearing for that idler gear, that has been the culprit for many of the PTU failures. Hence, the many attempts by Ford to implement updates to it. The most recent iteration, combined with regular fluid changes, can drastically mitigate PTU failures, even at higher power output levels, in my opinion.

Thanks again for that great video!
