So I finally got some cash together to do some stuff to the SHO (which I thought was going to be the hard part) and decided to make some calls on getting the suspension done and other things done. Let's just say I now remember why I used to do everything myself when it came to modifications.

Pretty much everyone I called either doesn't want to do aftermarket spring installation or they want $400-$500 for install!

Also looked into getting the chrome blacked out around the door trim, lights and fender vents; that was going to be $650+??? Obviously businesses like to try and scam their customers out here.

And for the finale I rear-ended a lady last night making a right hand turn after picking up my daughter from daycare. She decided to turn right, I looked left for an opening in traffic, applied a little pedal, looked forward again and she was stopped half-way into the intersection with no one in front of her. Didn't have enough time to stop and ended up hitting the tow-hitch on her Ford Explorer at 1-2mph. Snapped the grill in the lower right hand corner and scuffed up the bumper; everyone was okay and I really don't even think she noticed until I got out and asked if she was okay.

Here's to hoping that she was just being an ass about the pain in her neck! I'll post up a picture of the damage when I can.

I've done that myself -- you look back and oh-oh....they changed their mind and stopped again. OH-F*CK.......

Luckily you weren't rolling too fast and damage was minimal.

G/L with repairs (and her pretend sore neck)

about your accident, I had one similar, was driving a very old but shiny 300D mercedes a long time ago (bought the car when he was the only one that would take my Chevette! in trade), and did exactly the same thing you did. Car in front started right turn, I crept forward looking left and "bump" touched her car. I had a scuff, her car, which was even older and was really beat up had so much previous damage to her bumper you could not tell if I touched her. I didn't ask if she was OK, just asked if she wanted to turn it in to insurance, and she looked at me (in my "work" suit and tie) and the Mercedes and just said NO, and took off. I think she was working out if she had enough of a case to sue or something. never saw her again.

but in the 20+ years since then, I have never assumed again that someone would complete their turn! I imagine you will be the same way.

Sorry to hear that and glad to hear that no one was hurt. As you say, no better timing than now to consider the MS grill!
As for the springs, I paid my ex-tuner guy... He charged me 200$ for the install, but I just realized now, that he didn't allign after the install. As a matter of fact, I bought new tires about 4500 miles ago (2.5 months) and when I had my oil changed a few days ago, I noticed that the tires were 60% finished in the inside. The tuner guy had told me he didn't need any camber bolts... yeah right!
Anyway, all that to say it is worth it to hire a competent person.
Good luck!

So its 5-6 years ago, I'm the 4th car back in a left turn lane with turn arrow!

Turn arrow turns green, car one drives around turn and away, car two does the same! Car three (the one in front of me, a Diamonte BTW) slams on the brakes at the white line! Now by this time I'm doing 10+ MPH, fast enough to slam this pinhead and knock him a car length into the intersection.

I look up at the STILL green arrow thinking WTF??? When they all got out of the car rubbing their necks I realized they all appeared to be of latino descent.

Turns out they had no insurance, which is against the law, so they shouldn't even have been on my road! But I got the ticket all the same.

Funny, after my insurance company told me one of the passengers was complaining of a sore neck I filled them in on my suspicions regarding a fraudlent claim and voila the passenger suddenly had to be somewhere else and the case was closed.

Do I make sure folks in front of me actually do what they start to do, you betcha!

Not having automobile insurance in IL is merely considered a petty / business offense under criminal traffic law.

It's a violation, sure. Theoretically they're not supposed to be operating a vehicle without, but it's not entirely preventable.

Addiionally, the courts are lenient on driver's who don't have a driver's license, especially ones of Latino descent...... the courts seems to think that there's a much bigger issue of residency status etc than just a mere violation of the traffic laws.

I know, I know...... don't **** the messenger, I'm just speaking from 1st hand observations of 17 years worth of LEO experience.
Hey Mike bpd... I just saw the «Chasing Darreli» under your name lol! That is very funny! But have you raced it a few times at the drag? We never heard about it... I know for a fact that I am interested in seeing what your ride has in the stomach... I put Hemi's for lunch under my name... Darreli is out of reach for me lol

Hey Steve,

HEMI's For Lunch. Just noticed. I have been using that expression for decades. Not always HEMI's but Honda's, Chevy's...what ever my Buddies were driving at the time was "Lunch". LOL

Look what I have as a hat.
