Yes, upgrades are in the works. I have an idea for reinforcing the input shaft and shimming has seemed to work from the little I've read. Who else has a shimmed trans?

Pat has two shimmed transmissions, I have one Gary, has one and I'm not sure if Terry has one done. None of them have broken yet. I had everything shot peened while I was at it.

Don't get greedy with the boost, and a shimmed trans can likely last for some time. Keep in mind that you have the ability to make a ton more TQ than most S/C setups, so what works for a Vortech car may not be as beneficial for a turbo car.

What a Vortech can do is give you INSTANT torque when on/off the throttle at high RPM. I've bounced the internals back and forth on my transmission like no other. Road courses and canyon driving can play **** (so can playing with the throttle at 6k RPM trying to envoke a race).

Considering the transmissions, in stock form are shimmed with a bit of a gap, tighting that gap to be 0 preload at operating temps can really make the transmission go a long way. Scott is looking to have his transmission shimmed too. He was making similar hp/tq numbers as this car before the built motor and intercooler.

Shocking the drivetrain is far worse.

I'm sure Mr. McGrath's motor is putting some good torque down at 520whp. I'm sure Tony is doing better that that too.

Oh, and... LOL :)

Congrats on running in the 12's and everything staying intact. Nick's turbo SHO makes you think your SHO is just a stock taurus. From my experience. haha. Keep it it up man.

congratulations! post that time slip you now have the number 2 spot. You beat SHONUT!

hes actually still behind by a 100th of a second.

He should get a small handicap for being on street tires tho!

Do you remember how many miles any of you guys have on those shimmed transmissions?

My third gear is giving up the ghost, so it's time for me to do try the shot peened/shimmed route. I'm curious on what and how many miles those things have seen.

The one in Pat's race car was in the white SHO before making it into the race car. I bet it has somewhere between 20 - 40k miles on it (my guess). Both cars have seen more road course time than anything.

The shimmed one that was recently done for the white car after Chris shredded Vadim's transmission (swapped out from the race car) probably has less than 10k miles.

I have 4k ish....

Here is the time slip for Nick's quickest run of 12.949. It was also my quickest at 12.163. All three of my runs netted me the same 116 mph top speed. I guess the 4.86 ring and pinon ratio is limiting my top speed....along with my fear of dying. That is one wooly booger of a ride.

I hear Mike's voice!

That run by Tom is WAY better than the last one I saw him run when I was out there with you guys. You spun down the entire track!

Great video! Looking good and FAST!!!!!11111ONE11
