I personally don't see the point in spending all the time to make your own Y-Pipe and then putting crush bent pipe in it. Sure, mandrel bent may not make an improvement, but it certainly can't hurt, and is definitely easier to work with. The material price is going to be nothing compared to the time you put into the Y, so might as well use the best parts you can.
Cut a crush bent 90 in half, rotate one half 90 degrees, and see how well the edges line up. It'll look like the Toyota symbol. That's why I went with mandrel bent.
Oh, I'm with you. I'm just wondering what happened to all the population that said crush bend is all you need? I feel like starting an argument.
