wouldn't start

i was driving the other day and the car just died. it took about 10 minutes to restart it. now tonight i shut the car off and it would not start back up so i checked the fuel pressure and it was strong, next i banged my hand on the dis module a couple of times then the car started right up....what does this sound like to you guys??? it is a 95 atx

Sounds at first like the crankshaft position sensor (CPS) failure scenario. When the engine died while you were driving, did the tachometer drop immediately to zero? That would indcate the CPS. You should check the stored EEC codes. Several of the CPS failure modes will set a telltate error code.

no codes in there for that just a transmission shift first gear code...i didn't notice the tach i just noticed the ce light come on so i decided to stomp on the gas to see if it would go away and when i did i noticed that there was no engine running so i pulled over and through the computer on it and thats the only code i got...
