Gas is $$ WALK!
This evening I finally took the time to rebuilt the radiator fan motor.
The temps would be fine on the highway, but stop and go drving meant high temps. The fan was totally dead.
I needed brushes for the motor. original ones were COMPLETELY worn away, all the way down to the copper wire leads.
I managed to find direct fit brushes at my local ACE hardware of all places. I dug thru the boxes and bins of brushes till I found the correct size. Turns out that a certain 18 volt Makita drill uses the same brushes as an '89 SHO taurus cooling fan
4 brushes @ $5 each, about an hour of wrenching, and I have a new fan.
Just thought Id share
I cant be the only one that doesnt want to spend gobs of money on a fan motor.
