This weekend I'll finally be able to get back to working on the SHO. Plans are to bolt the rest of the suspension back together, install the SFBs and fix that pesky loose nut, put the transmission back together (gotta find my pictures and that BB that I think I shot across the garage) and if I'm feeling spunky, drop the flywheel off at a machine shop.

Wow, to think it was only 18 months ago that I begin taking the dang thing apart.

Troy,

I have a flywheel that is already blanchard ground and has an excellent ring gear. 30 bucks and your old one and it's yours.

Thanks Tom, but I think I'm just gonna get mine resurfaced, it's in pretty good shape. I'm kicking around the idea of getting the weight rib on the back side removed too. I know, it's a recipe for disaster, it's gonna blow apart and tear my sack a new one, it'll disintigrate rolling out the driveway, it's a horible idea, etc, etc, etc. But I just can't afford a Fidanza or a steel plate and still get a new y-pipe. Actually, I can't afford either, but sacrifices will have to be made. My wife doesn't really need that medication.

On a side note, I did get everything on my list done, but I have no idea if I put my transmission back together like it should be. Any way of testing it without putting the whole car back together?

Not that I know of. Do you want to do the insertion job here? We figured out a neat way to use the lift to do it.

You can do the basic bench test of turning the input shaft and watching the output splines turn appropriately in each gear and reverse. The higher gears get hard to turn, but it'll give a basic "didn't leave a shaft out" sort of test.

The "did I leave a shaft out test" is to just shake the tranny and listen for rattles, isn't it?:laugh_ti:

Tom, that sounds like a great idea. It'll be a minimum of a couple weekends before I am ready and can make it up there though. I'll call you or PM to set it up.

I just kinda glanced around the garage to look for missing shafts/gears/synchros. Unfortunately, all I found was a thrust washer that had tumbled out. I just threw it away.

No, I'm kidding. :) I took the tranny back apart and put it in.
