I got in on the Doug Lewis X-Cal tuner GB some time ago. The firmer shifts have been worth every penny. A couple times, the tires have chirped the 1-2 shift. Today... as I started up a hill, I hit WOT. The tires barked like a mad dog in the 1-2  In all honesty, an mtx sho couldn't have done it any better :naughty:
Of course,I probably managed to knock off a couple thousand miles off the tranny life

Ornery, I am using the 87 program (#1) :)
It did not improve my ET in the 1/8, but I did gain 1 mph...

Damn, I wanna chirp my tires too! But going around a slow turn, dropping the hammer & watching the inside tire smoke will have to do for now.

Avoid doing that. It's ******* the differential. Do it too much and you'll be in the market for a new tranny and your old tranny won't be any good for a core either. $$$$

It's also ******* tires which is also expensive. I learned the hard way after smoking off a set of brand new rubber in 8 months.

I have yet to get a chirp on the 1-2 shift (not that I'm trying or anything lol...) I suppose part of it could be the uber-sticky tires I have?

Either way I LOVE the results of the tuner :thumb:

actually, my nitto's have only approx. 10k miles on them...
I have only managed to chirp them maybe 3 times... plus the miracle mentioned in the first post ;)
Sometimes the WOT 1-2 shift is incredibly firm (and with torque steer), and sometimes it is only fairly firm.

I'm kinda curious about the pricing with both the X-Cal & X-Cal 2 compared to Doug's quoted prices? Now FordPartsNetwork's regular prices are even cheaper than Doug's group buy prices. Why the large (IMO) difference? Do the tuning that comes with FordPartsNetworks X-Cal's compare to Doug's? Or do these units maybe not even come with any programs compared to Doug's 3?

I'd like to purchase from Doug, but when the X-Cal 2 is over $50 cheaper than even Doug's original X-Cal I start to wonder? Can anyone convince me which is the better route?

I'm thinking we should start a new thread that may get more interest and answers....we kind of hijacked this thread in a whole new direction!
