I was curious if anyone knew of woodgrain kits for the SHO. I saw a SHO the other day that had one, and it looks pretty snazzy. I have not seen anything of the sort previously, but would be interested in finding out more.

Thanks,
Chris

If you look in some junkyards and dealers, they will have old Sables/Tauri (do both have it?) with wood dashed. The Sable is a bit different though, and you might need to change a few dash pieces over to the Sable version to do it.

Edit: didn't notice you had a Gen II :( Oh well. I don't think those ever had a wood dash, right?

Thats where I got my carbon kit very nice quality, I just wish the SHO had molded overlays instead of the cheaper generic flat overlay/panels, molded is more money but worth it.

I saw a wood grain on a green mocha 94 or 95 once. it didn't look that great in my opinion. but it is rare.

The fake wood looks cheap and crappy. The real wood, especially burls like Carpathian Elm Burl, look really great, but are a bit expensive and the SHO dash does not really lend itself to the overlays due to the lip over the air conditioning opening, though maybe something could be done for that. I have been mulling that over myself.
Dont get the overlays for the door arms as they dont fit well over the lips at the switches.

There is a manufacturer in Florida that sells very thin veneers, like the Carpathian burl and the walnut burl, without the epoxy coating, which is kinda think on the kits. So, you could cut out your own veneer to fit. I would then coat the veneer with a good marine urethane (has UV inhibitors) or Imron clear. That way it would not be so thick and plastic looking as those with the thick epoxy, would look more like the Jaguar and Rolls wood finishes, would fit the SHO dash better, and be a lot cheaper too. And, since the veneer comes in 3 foot by 8 foot sheets for about 60 bucks, you would have lots of veneer left over for us on the forum who would like it.
