I have changed the plugs, fuel pump, filter yesterday and the damn thing still wont start on its own. I have to spray startinf fluid in the intake to get it started. after that it wont idle on its own after i let of the gas it just dies. It will start again after that but the next day ill have to do the same. Before i changed the pump I was getting the low speed pump failure code I think and my mechanic said that there was alot of resistance in the signal coming from the pump. Is it that multi function relay causing this?If so where can I find one? Also after I got it started and drove down the street I still didnt hear or really feel the secondaries open up. Please help before I send this money pit to the junkyard :hail:

sound's like your IAC isn't working. You can try taking it off and cleaning it,but don't hold your breath on that fixing it, it probably needs replacement.

I would start by pulling codes and seeing if you get any. Before you just go and take your IAC off try to start the car by just opening the throttle a little bit if the car starts fine then i would clean or replace the IAC. If you stand at the front of your car and look at the engine the IAC is located on the intake manifold just to the left of the throttle body.

This is what I pulled from http://www.shophoenixproject.com/eec/eec.htm.
A handy site when troubleshooting codes.

95 (O) Fuel pump: open, bad ground or always on - Power / Fuel Pump Circuits
(R) AIR not Diverting (AIRD) - Air Injection
(M) Possible bad fuel pump ground or open between fuel pump and pin 8 at PCM (Fuel Pump Monitor signal) - Power / Fuel Pump Circuits

56 Vane Air Flow (VAF) or Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor high - VAF MAF
Transmission Oil Temperature sensor too high - Transmissions

59 AXOD 4/3 circuit fault - TTransmissions
3.0L SHO - Low speed fuel pump circuit problem - Power / Fuel Pump Circuits
Transmission 2/3 shift problem - Transmissions
1990 Scorpio - Idle jumper installed (information only code - to inform you if it is installed or not)

61 Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor is or was too low - ECT

66 Vane Air Flow (VAF) or Mass Air Flow (MAF) signal low - VAF MAF
Transmission Oil Temperature (TOT) signal low (possibly grounded) - >Transmissions

As said above, try cleaning the IAC valve.Clean the MAF sensor.Be careful not to damage the two small wires on the MAF.Do a search on how to clean both.
It does sound like a fuel pump problem as codes 95 and 59 point to.
Good luck with it.
