Ok.. well I know some of you have been reading my last posts.. and I'm no mechanic, but I've searched a lot, and am still clueless, and everything looks ok, to me anyway. Anyway, please let me know if anything looks wrong.

Here is the only connector I dont have a spot for..

Connector

The allen wrench shows the position of the mark, 9 teeth off the line

Crank

Top side, also 9 teeth off, so I should be ok?

I have no reading on the fuel pressure rail, but I get a good bit when depressing the schrader valve, bolts on the fuel rail are all the way tight, the injectors will spin, but are all snug. All connectors seem ok. Someone pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeee tell me new motors are just testy about starting when new. I dont understand why it backfired.. at all.. I was giving it some gas when it happened, and maybe I just got her flooded. My codes are only 511, and 111. Rememeber i have a Ted B chip, so thats probally why I have the 511. How can I test the coil with a multimeter. I'm going to look at the plugs and see if there is anything funny in there.

Well, none of the plugs looked funny or strange, maybe a little too much anti seize on one of them, but they looked the same to me and my eyes. Going to put it all back together, and then see what else I can find.

yea it is.. thats why i had the allen wrench pointing to the mark. They are equally spaced, 9 teeth off. So nothing really 'slipped'

lol.. it was lined up perfectly when I first did it. It shouldnt make any difference as long as they are the same distance away I would think. Anyway.. I'm about finished and will get a video of it starting, or not...

Thats something I was wondering about.. plus its right underneath where those are on the EGR vehicles. Im' adding a ground or two, and will let you all know what happens.

Well.. I guess it just wanted to be triple checked. Cause she fired right up. I'll get the video up in a second. My exhaust isn't mating up perfectly, so its a little loud. Also it seems to be smoking a little bit, and I wondered if thats pretty normal. Can't really pinpoint where its coming from but its there none the less. Maybe some of the old fluids that dripped on the exhaust maybe. Anyway.. one thing I did notice was something I can only explain as a vaccum - like sound. Havent ever heard it before maybe its normal. I'll get a clip.. seems to still be learning sensors.

Well, I started it twice, and the vaccum thing is still there, and I'm wondering if its a bad p/s pump, or the water pump, those are both stolen off the old car, were working when I took them off. Wondering if the bearings were old or something, but something sounds very wrong to me, so I shut it down. The only other odd thing that could be pressure related... the metal part of the hose that connects to the p/s pump got a little bent, maybe thats causing some funny stuff?

Let me know what your concensus is on this.. I'm not starting it again until someone has a clue what to check for. Thanks!

P.S. WOoooo Hoooo I might actually drive this thing soon.. :)

Just a thought... it almost sounds like when you try to whistle with a peice of grass... maybe this is something to do with air squeezing past the secondaries?

by listening to the video you get the noise as soon as it starts for a split second then it went away until the rpm's went back up and it came back louder. could you have a vacuum leak around the idle air motor or a defective one. I may be wrong but I think the idle air motor opens to maintain the idle and will close as you give it throttle. that's what it sounded like in the video. engine off idle air closed and whistled until it opened to maintain idle and started to whistle again as it closed when you gave it gas.

Well.. thats another peice I havent replaced, but I'll definately have to check because those hoses were old.. ran out of the line I bought. I was just nervous to let it run incase it was something bad. I let a friend listen to the clip and he was thinking it sounded like a bearing. I've seen a few posts about belts being too tight, and I know I cranked the one down pretty good. I think I'm going to start her up tommorow and poke around with a can of WD-40 see if the squeaks go away from the pullies. If not maybe I got my timing belt too tight. I like to add a little to what the spring in that tensioner wants to provide. So maybe thats it too? I was just afraid to let it run too long.

Run it without the accessory belts on. That will eliminate all those. My money is on the Timing belt tensioner being too tight.;)

Well... I'll have to let her run a little while tommorow and try to see where its at. I did have the vac hose that runs from the TB to the IAB, well that peice next to it.. the one of those 2 that is closest to the radiator, was just chillin there.. had to tighten him back up. Maybe that was it. I wont know until the morning, because its 2am and with my exhaust not quite sealed.. I dont think they would appreciate me letting my car warm up, squeaks or not.

Holy crap.. it just dawned on me.. I got some brakes to put on, and I can go driving tommorow. Gotta get those plates soon.. lol Registration ended May 2003.. :) been a Lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng time without driving a SHO. I'm about all F-150'ed out. I will miss that TQ down low tho.

Another thing I tightened up was the butterfly's. I may have been a little too gentle on all those painted peices.. :) She sounds good.. blows a lotta steam outta the heater tho.. :( Looks like its on fire when it gets real warm.. lol I'm trying to decide if I wanna do that now.. or go the hose route for a while.

Oh yea, she screams, and as one of my friends put it, sounds like a ***** ape. That squeeling I think was mostly because on my idler pulleys.. ummm someone forgot to tighten those nuts.. lol Sqeakin my belts.. might have been the front one thats the only one I adjust. For some reason every socket i buy to use on the back tensioner wont fit with that dampner in the way, so I usually take out the top two bolts on the tensioner and slide her outta the way. A lot faster than tightening that thing with an allen wrench. Suppose I could lose that dampner with the reinforced mounts.. lol oh well.. Gotta get those washers for my brake lines, and I'll be just about ready for a drive around the block. :)

I did a 3.2 swap and put stage one sho shop cams in and my car ran like crap
I drove it to were I did the swap it sat in side a building for 9 months only and at the end of the nine months I drove it out for the first time with the 3.2 that was siting for about 2.5 years I think or longer any way the problem was bad gas
it was low on gas to start with and it ran like crap I decide to go to the gas station with it and put in $20 in gas and then I drove it back to my shop ran like crap the hole way to the gas station but after about 4 miles or so it starte to come alive! it got better and better little by little and then that thing ran like heck!

so maybe you should try some fresh gas

by the way befor I got fresh gas in it, my sho back fired all the time and just ran very poorly. so hope that helps.

I have questioned my timing belt timing and my cam chains many times but found out every time that I was carful and did do it right the first time after all
too.
