I just recently got the sho on the road and i had an inspection done and all that stuff, spent a bunch of money to get her ready. Today was finally my first day driving it and i already have problems. Well heres what happens, i start it up and push the clutch in to go into first, however no matter what wiggling, pushing or changing gears it is impossible. I have to then turn off the car, it shifts smoothly off and i go into first than restart and i am good. However downshifting on the road is also a problem as i have to wiggle it very hard to get back into first after stops and to downshift to second is very difficult if not impossible at times. I hope the problem is small as ive already invested alot into this car. It only does this for first second and it grinds going into reverse unless i slam it in. Another problem is the pedal is a little stiff and i tried pulling up on the pedal but it never clicks. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like you may have some worn synchronizers in the transmission.

Does the shifter handle wiggle when you are trying to put it in gear, or is it solid? If you have a gen I with the cable shifter, there is a piece of plastic that holds the shifter and cable together. When it gets worn, you can get the symptoms you describe. When it breaks, you are pretty much stuck in whatever gear it was in until you replace the cable.

Don't know much about the rod shifter. Only way to know for sure is to take it to a trustworthy transmission shop. Perhaps someone in your area can refer you to one.

Smooth shifting with the car off then difficult shifting when running indicates a bad clutch, cable, or cable adjustment.

Start with the easiest things if you don't want to pull the transmission just yet. Go from the adjuster to the cable. If neither work...clutch time.

Same thing with mine. replaced throw out bearing and clutch. didn't mess with the flywheel as that gets costly i think! I used a greasable Grizzly Paw TOB, supposed to be more durable. Went with the stock clutch as I have no mods.

Did you changed the pressure plate? If not , did you inspect the PP fingers? They tend to be eaten by the TOB ,anf the TOB will eventually pass through the PP.

I had this same problem, I ended up replacing the clutch & clutch cable & it was fixed, I don't know which one was causing the problem exactly, but it wouldn't go in gear for me because the clutch was not completly disengaging, I i could tell this by reving up the motor with the clutch pressed down & shifter in 1st, when the RPS really got up there it would start to pull the car, but it didn't do it at idle so it must have barley been touching.

also had this same problem but it was more of all gears not just first took the clutch out and had broken pressure plate straps... so if it is the stock clutch they do tend to break alot sorry to say but it kinda looks like you will be in for a new clutch
