I somehow managed to run into two problems at the same time today, lucky me.
94 mtx w/ 80mm maf and LPM, it was about 90 degrees today as well. Not sure if any of that is relevant, but it can't hurt to mention.

I went down to the BMV to renew my license today, about a 20min drive. The car started up fine, ran like it normally does on the way down. Started fine, and ran normally coming home as well...until I stopped to get some chinese for lunch. Maybe a 5min wait before I got back in the car, which is when I discovered it wouldn't crank over. I popped the hood, fiddled with the battery cables a bit, making sure they were secure and making good contact, which they seemed to be. The lights/radio/windows all worked as well, so I tried cranking it again, and still nothing happened.

Well, the chinese place is just down the street from my place, so I figured I'd try to get the SHO home at least before I started troubleshooting things. I gave it a good push, slipped it into first and popped the clutch and it started up. I got as far as pulling up to the stop sign at the end of the parking lot...it stalled when I came to a stop. Luckily things weren't too busy, so I had another go at a push start, and this time I made sure to watch the tach, it tried to stall whenever I slowed down enough for it to drop down from it's 1500rpm "rolling idle", so I had to nurse the throttle for the two stops I had to make on my way home. When I got in my parking space I went ahead and stopped nursing the throttle manually, and let it try to idle on its own. It dropped to 500rpm then bounced back to 1000-1100rpm twice before it finally died.

Either one of these problems on their own would be merely annoying, both of them happening at the exact same time has me baffled.

Well, I'd tackle the cranking issue first. Sounds like a starter. The next time it won't crank, give the starter a light whack with a small hammer. If it starts, it most likely a bad starter.

Also, Check you ***

Back in Michigan ... again.
Ann Arbor!

I'm just north of you in Whitmore Lake. If you can nurse it up to my house I'd be happy to take a look :thumb: I'm literally a 1/4 mile off US-23 at Barker Rd (exit 52 iirc).

If you don't have a corrosion prob on the terminals, could well be a starter. The idle hunting could be a MAF or possibly an FPR prob. Either way, we can trouble shoot at my place

Third largest Michigan metropolitan area. Probably pretty close to number 2 these days with GR on the brink of economic ruin.

well they pretty much summed up the starting issue. for the stalling it sounds like it could be the CPS or the IAC. I say let it sit for a couple hours to let the CPS dry then start it and get the codes before it gets wet again (assuming thats the problem).

For the no start issue I would say battery terminal connections, starter, or clutch/neutral safety switch-->(if this is bad everything will seem fine but it won't start)

For stalling I would say iac because all the problems point to that.

If you do a search or pm me and I will get you the link, I did a write on how to clean the iac properly just a while back
