2016 SHO, 'Plain Jane' is her name, has started blowing the defrost out the regular vents. Then she works properly. Then she blows out vents. ETC ETC (dirty jokes running thru my brain :naughty1: but need to focus for now )
I have the extended warranty & have made multiple appointments with Ford. However, on appointment day, it works properly & Ford won't do anything. After driving in sleet & frizzing rain then arguing my point to Ford, they say just bring it in when it doesn't work. Unfortunately, my daily path doesn't pass the dealership, or the shop isn't open.

My knowledge on defrost is none  Looking for any easy visual suggestions to try &/or info on the part(s) that controls the location of the blower. I mean 'layman's term' info

Thanks in Advance
Enjoy the ride
:burnout:

Sounds like an acutator getting stuck. I don't know the electronics of this system so it could be electronic system error or actual actuator malfunction.

here is a short visual description of Ford blend door actuators and where the failures are

Again, caveat, it could be electronic in nature. I've had issues with V8 SHO's with the electronic controls going bad on the dash. I'm not an expert in the new model SHO's heat/ac system setup. I suggest it as a logical place to start because it is the most common failure across alot of vehicles over time. Good luck!!

Update
Took to Ford. And once again you guys were correct. The motor isn’t working to move the door. No sweat, I have the ‘best extended warranty’ so I was told. It’s not the best, it doesn’t cover this issue. However approx $900 will get it fixed. Not sure if I’ll fix it or bring back to Ford.

ford premiumcare is best warranty you can get, idk what you have.

if the problem exists only on the drivers side or only on the passengers side, then yes, it can be that side's blend door actuator.

if the problem is on both sides, you have the unfortunate possibility of a mode door actuator being involved, which is more of a pain to fix, as per video above.

what dtcs have you pulled up? you need an obd scanner that reads both the ms-can and hs-can buses to get a complete picture. there might be battery voltage involvement.

do you have the work sheet from the dealer showing the results of their diagnostic? plz post if so.

I do have the papers & will post them later. As for my warranty, it wasn't the Ford Premium Care but I'll post the name with the papers.
Problem is on both sides. And we have a scanner, I'll try that too.

Big Thanks!!

Update: It's been a week of phone calls & asking question with dealership & CNA National. Then the dealership General Manager called stating the system was showing the wrong warranty to my vehicle. Glad I kept pushing.
It does bother me that vehicles & warranties have gotten so complicated that a less than $100 part can cost up to $900 to have fixed. Now Im on a new journey to find a 2018 or 2019 SHO.

Thanks for the help!!!

Is CNA a 3rd party warranty? I usually recommend a Ford warranty purchased with a discount online by the usual 2-3 Ford folks that offer them. The only PITA is you have to go to the Dealer service shop to have it inspected and fill out the warranty checklist. It's worth it to not have to get into a back and forth of 3rd party stuff. I used teh discount Ford warranty quote with a local dealer and asked if they would match it and they laughed in my face and said that price was below cost for them.

Good Luck in your search!

What's funny is you have the same bug as the rest of us. The thing keeps breaking down and we decide to get another one.

I would say it's a 3rd party purchased through the dealership. I just assumed I was getting the Ford warranty with my SHO purchases - never had an issue with a claim. Definitely will look for the Ford warranty info.
Big Thanks to you. Actually, Thanks to everyone for sharing the SHO knowledge. Never would have thought a 4 door car would ever be my choice. :burnout:

Enjoy the Ride!!!!
