Can't answer your question about removing the windows...but I would think you'd be able to find a shop that'll go darker than the legal limit. I have 35% on mine, black with tan interior, and have been very happy with this tint.

Call around any "real" shop will do tint below the legal limit.

In RI the legal limit is 35%, and i have 15% all around and another layer of 5% tint over the rear window, and 20% all around in my TL-S, just find the right tint shop.

i think almost any place that does tint will give you whatever you want, all u gotta do is sign a waiver for it. at least around here thats how it is, and most other places are like that to i would assume. and as for 280 bucks for them to tint your windows, that is just a shade to high. i got 20% all around except the windshield (i got 15% banner size strip) for 180, and its not one of them halfass jobs either.

Go to a dermatologist, tell the doctor that you have had basal skin cancers removed in the past and so you need a prescription for dark tinted windows. Should get one no problem. Then take the prescription to the shop. Keep the prescription in the glove compartment with your insurance papers in case a cop bothers you. Works great.

That sounds a little desperate just to get a dark window tint!
As for removing the windows, I don't think you'll find a shop willing to do that, unless you want to pay big $$$.
A professional can do a great job without taking off the windows.

Some shops will do it, some won't. The ones that did mine wanted cash for the job. I had mine tinted 5% limo all the way around. Double 5% limo on the rear doors. Windshield tinted 35%. 5% Limo eyebrow. That is VERY dark.

That was nice at first, then got to be a real pain in the butt when driving at night and being on a less than stellar lit roadway. Great during the day, terrible and unsafe at night.

Since then, that was over 2 years ago, film has come out that rejects heat a lot better than the dark limo tint. I have replaced it with the newer and lighter tint.

You would have to take each door apart to do this and do you also want to remove the rear window? It would still be difficult to tint properly if you didnt know what you were doing.

As long as you keep everything wet down with the 3M liquid glue you can move the paper around all you so as to get a nice close cut/line on the top of window.

Here's what happened to me the other nite:

I was driving home Saturday nite......so this chick cop pulls me over. I wasn't drinking, speeding or doing other stupid shit. So I ask heer what's up. She proceeds to tell me that my window tint is too dark!!. I said." How the **** can you tell when its pitch drak out." Well this sorta ****** her off. So she gets out the window tint meter and sticks it on my drivers side glass. %40 light transmittance it reads. "Too dark" shes says in a ****** tone.
Well because I am in the glass and glazing business I proceed to tell her about how that so called cheesy radio shack light meter has a +/- factor of around %30 if the ambient light is less than optimal. I went on about shading coeficients, U values, solar light transmittance, visible light transmittance..etc..etc..I've forgotten more about glass than she'd ever know......I went on to tell her that the police in this town have seen my car hundreds of times go past and you decide to pull me over at 10pm on a Saturday nite?....hmmmm...sounds like a lamo excuse to see if Im a drunk driver, doper, smuggler...Ha!! Needless to say my smart assness got me a freakin ticket.

actually.. if his window tinting exceeds the legal limits.. then he has no room whatsoever to fight it.. as stupid as the law is.. its fairly clear.. believe me.. i know.. ive gone to court 2 times over my stupid tint tickets.. however.. i have found that the "it's not my car" excuse works well.. ive been pulled over a few times for my tinting and the first times.. i just gave the cops my spiel on how they should be after real criminals.. now.. i just tell them its my brothers car.. or fathers car.. they have always told me to make sure they know the tint is illegal and it must be removed.. but they dont give me a ticket..

Yeah, why argue with a pig anyway, even if she was a sow?
I got a ticket in chickenshit California, so I just looked in the yellow pages for dematologist, told her my family has a history of sensitivity to sun, that I had two basal skin cancers removed (she didn't question me at all), told her I needed a prescription for tinted glass, and she wrote me one without any problem!
I took it to court and beat the ticket. I keep the prescription in my car with my insurance card.
So I am good to go forever!

Californicating pigs want NO tint at all on front windows. They would like to look in your home windows too, especially your bedroom windows. Mostly I like some tint to protect my upholstery and to help keep the car cool - my car is black. Also, tinted windows look good with the black body.

tinting your car doesn't keep it cooler when it is sitting in the sun. It actually does the opposite, as black attracts heat.

It does help against colour fade and material break down for the interior though...

On the original question, I would recommend that you leave the windows in if you plan to tint the windows. The windows have a bit of a curve to them and will not set on anything good enough for you to be able to tint them, think about it. The best way to tint them is to leave them in the car.

If you can't get your windows tinted at this place drop me an email and I think I can tell you how to tint your windows yourself, if you really want them done that bad.
