i called one of the local salvage yards just to check on to see if they had any good eatc's. one did have one for 45 bux and he said its from a 94 or 95 sable(he didnt know, he said he thought it was from a 95 tho). idk when the hard button started, or what had them, but i need a new one in my car, cuz i cant see the label on the buttons at night, its just the light.
will this one work in my 94?

all help is appreciated.

should work if the configuration is the same. Just check the plug in the back and if it is a match get it. While in there I suggest getting the blend door if possible and the Blower control module from behind the glove box.

Welcome to the world of getting your chain yanked by a junkyard. Unfortunately, it's not that uncommon these days...

will a eatc from a 88 continental work? it doesnt have any broken buttons and looks a bit different than mine(buttons a tad bigger). it looks like a hard button one. did all the continentals have hard buttons?

the numbers on the white part were
F5PF-18C612-CBSR

EATC-FN9

It will plug in and function correctly but it won't fit without cutting off one or both of the locating pins. Be very cautious though, that part number sounds like one for a '95 Continental which will not work. A real '88-'89 Continental EATC is a soft button unit with an LCD display not a FV like all the Taurus/Sable ones.

I am pretty sure that the 'CBSR' on the end of the part number is indicative of a replacement unit designed to retrofit into an earlier model year. Basically, it is the Ford replacement unit which has been updated with the solid acrylic buttons. I may be mistaken but I believe that the display filter and button colors on that particular unit are green and would match the gen 1 dash not the blue-green color found on the gen 2.
Additionally, if the unit is from a Continental, it will be approximately 1/4 inch narrower than the Taurus unit and will pose somewhat of a challenge to center in the dash panel opening.
I hope I have helped!

jesus, how hard is it to find one that is hard buttoned and works?! :bonk: did any of the continentals (maybe like 90-94?) have the tealish display of the gen 2's? the mounting thing isnt a problem for me, ill just have to try to center it.

the ones from 95 sables and tauri are hard buttoned, tealish, and work. right?

jelloslug and mike gallion, all ur help is very appreciated, this damn eatc cracked button stuff makes me mad when driving at night. :madflame: cuz one fo the lights is RIGHT in my eyes when driving at night. :squint:

The only EATCs that have the correct color, fit, and operation for a 2nd gen are hardbutton units for 92-95 Taurus/Sable. Units from 88-94 Continentals will function properly but don't fit and are not the right color. No other units will operate in an SHO. It is possible to take the guts from one hard button unit and install them in another to get the proper color and/or fit.

95 was the ONLY year of the revised hard button unit. In 96 out came the Round style units. The 90-94 are the ones that are prone to cracking. Once, again, you want a 95 unit.

alright, i think i got it down.

i need a 95 sable/sho/taurus eatc to be hard button and the right color.

if i wanna do some work i can grab one from a later crown vic or something like that, and de solder the old ribbons, and re-solder the new facelpate's ribbon on.........

i think ill try as hard as i can to find a 95 unit, or i need to get a new solder gun/iron.......
