Will the end of SHO **** resale value?

SHOs seem to depreciate really hard. Is the consensus that the resale value will crater even worse now that the SHO is end of line?

I wouldn't think so, no.

The key will be (much like with the older GEN's) are one's that are accident free, well maintained, low or lower miles, etc. will command more value.

But who's knows what future markets will bring. Not only just for resale value(s), but the industry as a whole.

Maybe the Jetson's were onto something with their flying cars, etc.

Yes, it will crater big time. There are two situations: one is what will a collector insurance company insure a nice example for in 15-20-25 years.

The other is the ugly reality of the car's KBB value through the 1st 10+ years of its life. You will find this out when you are quietly sitting at a light, and the texting 16-year-old rear-ends you in daddy's Escalade.

I went through this after a minor accident in a 7-year-old 89 SHO, after I put about $10k into it the year before with body repair, new paint, etc.

Until you can get collector insurance, you will be screwed on value in case of an accident. Not to mention something like trade-in value.

I agree that it will probably mirror earlier SHO values which is crater and eventually go up in 20-25yrs for good survivors--if they still let you operate a non autonomous vehicle by then. Currently used sedan values are dropping due to increased consumer desire for larger/higher vehicles. Can't predict the market too far out unless oil goes sky high but the current trend should push prices down for a while.

This is the best SHO IMHO. Discontinuing it will help it's value. In 10-15 years there will be few of them left on the roads.

Way too many produced to gain value. You’ll make exactly what you paid for the car if miles are under 10k, ten years later. Drive it like you stole it...

The resale value is gone once someone drove it new off the lot. But in 20 years will it be a $500 car, like all the standard Taurus? Nope.

If you've put some bucks into upgrades, then pay for additional insurance. No big deal. I did that with my heavily modified 06 Mustang GT. At the time, 2012, it was worth about 12k KBB. I got an additional 8k of insurance tacked on for about $20/mo. Similar to GAP insurance. Get that and don't worry about KBB.
