Will I notice A Difference ??

ok guys, my SHo is a CANADIAN car with 150 000 kms on it ....and it hasnt had any maintence on it since brand new....oil changes and tune ups yes but the rod bearings havent been done, the timing belt is original and the motor is 100% factory. Over Christmas break i plan on changing out the timing belt as part of the sceduled maintence.

Also over march break, i plan on changin the rod bearings in it. Ihave herd horror stories about this and i plan on doing it as part of the "better safe then sorry saying"

i was curious for you guys that could help me out ....if i tune up my car with the timing belt and the rod bearings, will i notice any differnece in performance ??

my car runs very nice now with no CEL and no oil light, runs nice and smooth and can still incinerate the tires on demand...

i have herd of these motors feeling "tighter" when the maintence is done ?? sometimes my motor feels "tight" and sometimes it feels loose " like its not 100% ya know,

soo for the guys who have done this maintence, will i feel any gain in performacne after this maintence is done ? i have a brand new ATX tranny with 11 months of warrenty on it ....(1 month old trans) and i was just curious what to expect after the maintence is over ??

better performance, better fuel economy ??

you could probably feel a difference. it wouldnt be as sluggish in someways. i mean. after changing the rod bearing and timing belt you wouldnt have to worry about those for a while and if it hasnt had a full 60k id probably go about and do that.

Check on what FPS or the ShoShop does for a 60K. If you do all of these items you WILL notice a difference in performance and Gas mileage.

Do your Rod bearings only if an oil pressure check reveals a problem.

At over 150k (even kilometers) I'd do the bearings if you have the time (and inclination) it's not all that hard and, like the valve lash, it's really just an investment in time (and some cash). With your belt being original, I'm wondering if your valve lash has been done (even though you can do one without the other). If not, you're going to likely notice a big difference, both in performance and gas mileage. I wouldn't rely exclusively on a shim kit to have everything you'll need for your lash. They're good, and have a nice assortment, but if you need a large number of one kind you're likely to run out. Find a local place that has typical sizes for SHO (29mm) and source the extra's from there. I got mine at a Kawasaki/BMW motorcycle dealership, and they had just about every size imaginable from 2250 to 3350's.

A lot of people will give you differing opinions about the rod bearings, but I'm a preventative kind of person, if I have the time and equipment, I'd rather not wait for a problem to fix things. Not to mention, rod bearings are relatively inexpensive for such a vital piece of equipment.
