I found some brand new V rated potenza tires for about $150. I am wondering if 205/55/16 will be alright on my slicers. I believe 215 is oem.

Should I by em?

Your speedo is gonna be way off, I think it will read faster than you are really going. They should fit though and might look good, but you'll have even more fender gap than there already is.

Those space saver spares are 1.28" shorter than the stock tire and would make the speedometer read 5% high (3 mph at 60). They would also make the SHO look much like a SLO. Not even if they were free....

Actually, that size is perfect for the 6" wide slicers. Too bad it's not enough tire to hold a Taurus up. Check the load rating.

They are awesome on the sho! Dont believe the guy that said they suck. I ran Michelin MXV4's in 205 55 16 at summit point and they absolutely flew. The speedo is about 6 to 8 mph faster i'd say. The height is 25.0 inches.

ITS TOTALLY UP TO YOU who to believe but i run the 55s every day for like 90 miles and theyre great. Oh yeah, they make the car look sportier too.

If you want to install "55s" on the SHO, use the 225/55-16 size that is much closer to the stock diameter and really makes the SHO look "sportier" with its extra 20 mm of width versus the 205s. Too small a tire for the SHO.

Check out the Tire Racks specs,,205-55/16 comes in with a load rating from 89 to 91 depending on the tire. SHOs require a rating of at least 93. If you want to drive around on tires that are not designed for your car, well, that's up to you.

who wants to toss a Honda size tire on their car? OOoo OOoo me please me *raises hand frantically*

Don't put such a small tire on your car unless your putting some dub, type r, GT-R, etc. stickers on your car with a nice size wing.

I have Kuhmo 225/50ZR16 and my car rides and drives fine, my speedo is also 100% on target, I have checked it side by side with my G friends 2000 focus, my 89 SHO, and my 88 Festiva, they are all right on the money. The heandling is a lot better too(less side-walll flex). They also make your SHO feel a lot faster from the get go because they are a smaller diameter which also cuts back on rotating mass as well, just thought I'd add my 2 cents, thanks

No matter what I say, it always comes back to my red rims and the wing I no longer even have on my car? So my taste is different than yours, does that really make me less intelligent than you? I just don't wanna argue with people anymore, it gets old. I was just trying to give this guy some input that I have had with my tires, thanks

I've run 225/50/16s and 245/45/16s on both my SHOs. Both are around 24" tall on the car. Yes there is increased wheel gap but the gear change is great and the car handles good too.

I'll second the 225/50/16's. I had them on my slicers and my aftermarket wheels and loved they way they looked and rode.

Why are people posting about 225/50/16's??? The question was about 205/55/16. The only similarity between the two sizes is sidewall height.

Well, since we already decided that size will not work, I was suggesting what size he should get.....you couldn't understand that? shrug tool

?? did you put the 245s on the slicers?? i was under the impression that they would not fit on a 6" wide rim? and how did they fit the car? any rubbing issues on the strus up front?
