Find a Galls catalog, or goto http://www.gallsinc.com/shop/viewproduct.jsp?catcode=66

They run anywhere from $20 - $60 and are a little box you wire into your car.

Keep in mind that they're illegal to use in 50 states, unless you're an emergency official with the proper authorization to use emergency lighting.

Get caught using them on the street and you will most likely be arrested for 'impersonating an officer'. Whats the attraction?

alright *cracks knucles* here is the law concerning wig-wags, and emergency lighting:

1 - You DO need a permit for any lights that alternate or flash (wig wags), and in Red, Blue, and in CT Green.

2 - If you get caught with them on PUBLIC ROADS or PUBLIC SPACES, such as parking lots, roads, highways, and you get caught, you will be arrested for imersonating a police officer, your car impounded, and your license suspended, thrown in jail, and most likely fined. If you use them in your driveway, or on private land, they cannot do anything to you...but be careful anyway.

3 - Eric is right, if you are SHOWING the car they are legal to have. Some states require that the car have SHOW CAR insurance, AND OR Show car registration...this status is not hard to get, if you are concerned about this, I believe the DMV (department of motor vehicles) has the information you need for that.

BUT THERE IS A SNAG. You can run the wig wags in public if the vehicle has no chance of being moved while they are on. I.E the car is off, and they keys are not in the car, or where someone can access them besides the owner of the car. THIS IS A GREY AREA WHERETHE LAW IS CONCERNED...

I have Wig-Wags on my car, and i have researched this topic before I installed them, much like you are doing. Don't take any of this as concrete fact, different states have different statutes. If you do use them, be careful and make sure that there are no cops near you!!!

They are fun to have, and come in use every once in a while..just be careful..

Sorry for the long reply....

where do u have ur switch installed whelen? i was thinking the little casette-holder thingy above the change tray if it will fit. (i havent checked dimensions)

also, if a cop searches my car and finds the switch and turns em on will i get busted? or only if i have them on and he sees me?

i dont have any intention of running them in public, i was actually thinking car shows.

I used to have a switchbox under my seat, Fred, Rickie and Eric can vouch for me.... but for the longest time i just stuck the box b/t the bottom of the seat and the adjuster bar for sliding the seat front and back.

if your smart, you won't have the fuse in them when your driving around on the street. Cause with out the fuse in it, there is no way you can turn them on while driving... Just take the bus fuse out when you are not using it and you should be fine

If I buy the "Plug-N-Play Harness Lets You Turn Standard Headlights Into Flashers Without Cutting Wires" will I also still be able to use the headlights normally ?? Do I have to buy the switch or all I will need is the Plug-N-Play Harness??

Thanks

I dont have any ideas about the plug and play harnesses, i bought the one that you have to cut wires. It all depends about who makes the harness, and how much time you want to spend on install......with the plug and play i think its just the harness....but if you get the one where you have to cut the leads, you have everything there for you...
