I was having a very wierd ABS thing happening. Just before stopping the ABS motor would come on in pulses and sometimes pump the pedal back toward my foot and make the brakes come on real hard.

I just replaced my left front CV shaft, and when the shaft came out, the Tone ring for the ABS fell on the floor. It was cracked and had been loose on the shaft.

Now it stops good and smooth...plus no CV rattle

PS. this was on a 90 MTX

Awesome to hear that it was a more simple repair. I'm sure you feel a lot better now! :thumb:

Awesome, because I get the same exact thing in my '94. At first I thought it was normal ABS, but then after it pumps back at me it does get rediculously hard to stop...

Thanks for clearing that up! Time to find myself some good CV's and Tone rings :thumb:

Cool thing is the new cv's come with new tone rings on them. I even returned the core without the tone ring.

Makes a good paperweight

wierd ABS action

I have a 93 SHO and at times when I'm braking and I run over a divot in the road or break really fast the pedal would go to the floor and would be virtually impossible to stop as it makes a high speed grinding noise.

this the same thing

I bought my CV from NAPA, CarQuest had one too. Think I paid $130 but this is Alaska.

And yeah, when the ABS comes on it takes a lot longer to stop.

No, I don't think so. I need to replace my CV's also and my ABS activates sometimes, but not like that. That sounds like a serious braking problem that you should have looked at or insepcted. It is definately not normal.
