I bought my 95 MTX back in Jan with a freshly installed clutch (less than 1,000 miles on it). I have driven the car about 45,000 miles since then and I have never been able to do a clutch pedal adjustment on it. I have noticed that the pedal has some extra play in it but no matter how hard I pull on it, the damn thing wont click. I thought I was going to rip the pedal right out of the car yesterday. What am I doing wrong?? :sun:

I had a clutch put it 14k ago, and mine doesn't click either, but I don't have any slack either. The '93 is the same way.

Maybe that shows how awesome you are at not wearing it down and requiring it to self-adjust.

Mine is 15k or so old and hasn't self adjusted yet and I do have a little slack in it.

Maybe the self-adjustment spring is just broken too

If you are saying that you are pulling up on the pedal, what you are doing is releasing the adjustment mechanism, not tightening it. If the cable is loose, one normally hears a loud click or two when pushing down on the pedal.

It can be adjusted by hand. You need to get down underneath the pedal, and look up at it from below. A small mirror might help. You will see a small light blue rectangle, which is the end of the adjustment quadrant. Push down on the pedal with one hand, put your other thumb on the blue rectangle and hold it in place while you let go of the clutch pedal. You will hear one or more loud clicks if done properly. Don't adjust it too much (no more than 2-3 clicks) because you will put too much tension in the cable and too much pressure between the TOB and clutch fingers otherwise.

After having done this, if you raise the pedal beyond its normal resting point, you will release the adjuster and have to do it all over again.
