I have read through alot of threads here and on other forums about max whp and Tq on stock internals before issues arise. my question is how many of you guys on this forum have actually experienced engine failure after upgrades and what power numbers were you at when engine failed? Asking because I would like to max out it's potential without being built , due to wait time to have it built. I do understand the current of the limits of our tranny.

From all the reading I have done seems about 500 whp and 550 wtq is about the end of it.

Thanks, brought this up due to cost of having engine built. Looking now to take it to the max on stock internals for budget reasons. I have already spent $7,000 on parts and when I was quoted $12,000 to $14,000 for build it changed my outlook on my spending , with built and parts I would exceed the price I paid for the car.

Jordan R went a good while on 100% stock internals & all stock driveline at some crazy number of like 550+WHP & 600+WTQ. Not sure how long it lasted but seemed a good amount of time, with countless runs. Then he rodded it.

I'm actually in this dilemma myself. I've done just about every "bolt on" while leaving the internals stock. My car is a 2010 too so who knows how long it'll be until all **** breaks loose. Just need to install my GH Gen 3 turbos & 13+ manifolds then I'm done. When it blows up, not sure what I'll do but will let you know when it happens. Going to start a "build" thread as I'd like to keep track of all the stuff I've done to my car.

I've been keeping a list of all performance upgrades. And when completed and put on a Dyno I will list everything I've done and the price list of all parts. But don't get me wrong if build was in budget and their was a trans that could handle it, I wouldn't hesitate to take out a loan. Unfortunately we are in nature always wanting more power.

Save the money on a built engine and get real turbos. As I've been preaching for years now- if you get rid of the puny turbines this engine will breathe all the way to the 7k redline and you'll be able to make 600 whp with no more stress than your typical stock turbo e30 tune. As a side benefit you'll get a lot more capacity out of your HPFP too.

The pull from the GH turbo's will put a smile on your face. I stopped at 500 whp as this is when Brad kida poised the question "do you want to good further"?

Something tells me being able to hold 2nd gear out to 75 mph (non-pp) would put a much bigger smile on your face. All that low end torque has no actual performance benefit beyond the dyno.

I had a long discussion with TurboBay about that issue of torque band peaking at low rpm and my concern was that moment would be the biggest risk to damage the engine. So when I was ordering I took his advice and going with bigger turbine wheel, slow the spool and move TQ band to midrange. I hope they work well. And I agree with you, I rather pull longer then have the car start off like it's doing a tractor pull.
