I have a 90 taurus sho with the two-speed fuel pump and, I know there are a couple members on here running higher than normal fuel pumps with no aftermarket fpr..

I want to get one of the shosource fuel pumps but, I don't want stock. I want greater than stock

So what I want to know is how high of a pump can I go before I need to swap to the aftermarket fpr.

And any one running a two speed pump setup with a greater than stock fuel pump please chime in

Thanks

Mike

190lph is the biggest you can go without a FPR. they're cheap, swoop it.

There's no reason to over **** it with a pump you do not need. However, the early SHO's with the two speed can take whatever pump you want. The problem with everyone wanting the aftermarket FPR is because those SHO's without the high and low speeds just have a high speed and that forces too much fuel on the low end, making it a tuning problem. In conclusion, 89 ownz once again! :p

Edit: If you plan on putting some serious power down in the future, you'll still want the adjustable FPR.

So if I wanted to run the 255lph pump I could but, later if I plan on any up grades such as boosting then get the aftermarket fpr?

Heard nothing but good things about Walbro fuel pumps.

IIRC,
as far as the FPR, the stock one is nothing more than a a valve controlled by vacuum pressure on a rubber diaphragm. When vacuum is increased, the valve opens slightly increasing pressure. If you over pressurize the FPR (using the wrong pump or if using a fuel injector flushing machine setting the wrong pressure) the diaphragm can sometimes rupture and you will start sucking fuel through the vacuum line.

after market FPRS are manually adjustable with a set screw.

So, I wouldnt replace it with a higher flowing pump unless you replace the fpr at the same time.

So what do I do? Go big or stay stock? I herd of a couple members running greater than stock with the two speed setup I just can't remember who?
I'm just tired of master and bosch! I have put 2 pumps in in a month and I'm getting sick of it.

I have an 89 SHO with a 255lph pump and no adjustable FPR and it runs like a beast on all motor... never lost to an all motor SHO, even beat a SHO Shop Stage 4 modded SHO when stock. The 2 speed circuit regulates the pressure, which is not found in your 91-95 SHO's.

I'd just go with a 190lph in your situation, though. I went with the 255lph just to be safe with all my mods and the juice, like say the pump starts wearing out and not putting out as much pressure to keep up.
