My '93 ATX's tranny pan has quite a dent in it, so when I flush the system and add another cooler, I would like to replace the pan. However, it's $99 at Ford...seems really high!

Is this the right price? If not, where should I be looking?

Thanks!

My 95 had a huge dent on the drivers side bottom of the pan. It pushed up on the filter tube enough to crack it towards the top. Thought my transmission was getting ready to go before I fixed it. Very erratic shifting.

I dont know how mangled yours is, but I banged mine back in a flat surface, then flipped it over and straightened the sealing surface back out.

Have you thought about looking at a salvage yard? I believe the windstars had a Ax4s like our SHO's.

When I was searching for a pan through Ford, they told me to get the AXOD pan for $19.99, and that it's the same. Around here there was only 2-3 and it was in Arlington.

If it is the same $20 is hard to beat. Buying one of those is easier than trying to straighten the smashed one out.

It's so funny that some of these guys who have worked for Ford for so long don't know anything about SHO's...I insisted there was another option for a tranny pan, and he just couldn't get it through his head to look...

Thanks for the help! Now to order that new tranny cooler...

pan

Yeah man, the standard tranny pan in a v6 taurus will work. I happen to know this is a fact because I had a 95 taurus GL with ATX SHO stamped on the tranny pan. Why not do it on the cheap and get it from a yard? On the other hand, 20$ for a brand new spotless pan is hard to argue with. I have a filter and a gasket from ford that I never used on mine. I'd part with them for 20.00 shipped if you're interested. Make sure that the filter p/n's are the same between the sho atx and the standard tranny first.

Thanks for the offer, Jesse, but I already have the filter and gasket...Looks like I will attempt to perform the tranny flush in the next couple of weeks.
