Hello all,

I performed a search but only found a guy selling used ones for $50.00 plus shipping. I would like to pick some up at a local parts store or the local Ford dealer but neither can seem to find these brackets. Napa continues to order loaded calipers for me but they are the ones with shorter brackets with the curved outer piece instead of straight like the "FN74". They have stated that there computer system shows this same caliper and bracket from 1994-1999 for all Taurus. The dealer is lost even worse. Any help is greatly appreciated so that I can finally finish this '96 brake upgrade.

the bracket needs to be from a 96-99 SHO, regular taurus 94-99 is a completley different bracket. you can also get the brackets from any 02 and newer Taurus or any 00 and newer Sable.

I specified SHO and the counter man showed me on his computer that it made no difference. All 1994-1999 Taurus (SHO or otherwise) listed the same part #.

Better double check it. I just tried to do a front brake install and ordered some caliper brackets which we're wrong. So now the back is done and the front is incomplete. Just ordered some new ones from a friend at a Ferd dealer for around 40 bucks each (new). Other dealer wanted $65.

Checked the rockauto website and they too we're wrong. Don't order the Dorman 619-104 (I think thats it...) It's 1/2" to small. I called about a dozen places this weekend and they all said that the Dorman would work and I had to tell them that they we're wrong, very wrong.

Needless to say I didn't get alot acomplished when it came to brakes this weekend, and I ended up being very frustrated. Let alone the Husker's game against Kansas... that's another story.

Double check what? The caliper bracket was wrong (see first post). As of right now I do not know where I can get the FN74. So...I am in the same boat as you, it would appear.

the computer's at the parts stores are wrong. call around to junkyards, and auto recyclers. or instead of asking for the 96-99 SHO brackets, ask for one from a 05 Taurus or sable. they should have the right part for that since all 05s are the same.

I got mine from our Ford dealer in my hometown. The auto part stores on Saturday checked up till 06's and they showed the same part # as what I had which was wrong. So I had to go with Ford. Apparently their computer is wrong for the newer tauri's.

If $50 for a set of brackets is too much for you, you might want to consider buying another car or leaving the brakes alone. $50 is an excellent deal. No parts store (even if they could get the right brackets) is going to beat that price.

Ford's list price for the brackets (P/N F6OZ-2B134-AA) is $126.10 for a pair. So, you've been offered a pair at 60% off Ford's price. How much time have you wasted trying to find the brackets elsewhere to save a few dollars more? How much is your time worth if you paid yourself by the hour.

Sorry if this seems harsh or nasty. It's really not about you, but the growing number of people who waste hours and hours of time trying to save $5 or $10. We get about 30 emails and another 15-20 phone calls per day from people asking for parts. They all want to nickel and dime you to death.

Like I said, I found some yesterday for $65, so Chris's post of a pair at $126 is pretty close. I know a guy who works at a Ford dealer and got me a pair for $80. Nice guy. Now I just need to limp the car home so I can replace everything. :)

Just go to the parts store and ask for 95 lincoln conti. calipers with the bracket. You'll get the right one.

That didn't work for me at AZ, CSK, Big A and the dealer. Everybody stocks whatever fits the most popular car and will fit the MOST cars.

Mine are seized so I'm not sure how good used ones would be unless you rebuilt them yourself.

That's supper cheap! :oogle: not even my favorite and cheapest junk yard can beat that!! but don't give hopes to people thinking that they can get the same deal, They will have to pay more than that, just so they know.
Back to topic: cheapest place to get them will be yunk yard or be prepare to pay more money and loose lost of time trying to get the correct part (if you're lucky).
