I have a 91 SHO and at low speeds (seems like 15mph to stop) my brake pedal pushes back on my foot, makes a wierd noise, and makes my brakes super senitive. I cant really describe the noise but the feel on my pedal is like the pedal is pushing my foot back up. I have no brake or abs light on and im throwing no codes.

What is this and how do i fix it. Please help and thanks ahead of time for any and all help.

Sounds like the ABS is kicking in. Are you on dry pavement when this happens? What condition are your tires in?

Tires are good, roads are dry. brakes are fine at higher speeds. Its 15mph or so to stop that it does it.

have you torn a cv boot before or replaced a cv axle? id check te abs sensors, and check the ring gear on the cv axle...mine is split and acts up like that too

It is a definite ABS acting up. Likely causes...bad wheel ring, seized caliper, seized sliders, and also a bad brake proportioning valve(one near firewall) will cause this. I personally do not like ABS and I deactivate the ABS systems in all my taurus'(I own 4). Many do not agree with me doing that, but I prefer it that way. It's just me.

The ABS sensors on my Green 95 got soaked by a huge relatively high speed puddle. since them I got the dreaded ABS light on and no ABS.

I flat spotted some older tires at Autobahn, and locked both on some newer BFG KDW's w/o flatspotting, e-stop-ing to avoid schmeering a kid on a bike.

I believe in functional ABS over non-ABS but that's just me.

Well, on a Gen2, you could easily pull the fuse for the ABS in the underhood fuse block, but on a Gen1, it's a fusible link, and although the EVTM says it's located at "LH rear of engine compartment at starter relay", there are at least four other fusible links listed in the same location, so that may not be a really great plan unless you know what you're doing.

A surefire way to do it is to unplug the big plug on the ABS unit. Here's a quick picture of where it is:

Lift up the metal hinged clip thing and the whole plug should sort of raise up out of the socket a little, then you can pull it the rest of the way out. Then maybe stick a small rag in there (to keep any errant contact from being made) and put it roughly back in place.

That's what I'd do if I needed the disable the ABS and didn't have time to fiddle with finding the right fusible link. But it's your call. Others may present better solutions here-- listen to them.

Well if anyone here has a better idea please let me know. Its a temp fix but with my ABS acting the way it is I think it would be safer for it to be disabled right now over working.

You mean the black thing mounted on the inside of the driver side frame rail? That's just a multi-line coupling. There are no valves on/in it. The rear proportioning valve is the only one on the car.

Shane, leaving it do what its doing now is not going to hurt anything, it just activates the ABS on slow stops. My friends taurus has been doing it for 2 years. He doesnt bother to fix it and still has ABS in an emergency is he wants it. Jonheese has a good way of deactivating it temporarily. I usually go with the fuse or links, depending on year of my taurus. A 91, it's (ABS plug) is near the front left radiator support or near the right front fender inner well under the hood.

When I first read your post, I thought it might just be warped rotors, as they sort of push back on your foot as they rotate through their warp area. But there isn't any noise associated with it.
You can get those tone rings for the ABS at Autozone and they are not very expensive.

And with warped rotors, you usually feel the pedal pulsate at higher speeds as well. The cracked/split ABS ring symptom generally comes on sharply as you approach a stop, usually right around 15 mph.
