What's the problem with Pennzoil?

I keep seeing a lot of people saying Pennzoil is not good for the SHO. Is this a proven fact? I've been running Pennzoil in my 95 MTX for several years with no problems at all. All my Fords have used Pennzoil with zero problems. Is this just a rumor?

I every oil test ever run by any organization, it comes down at the bottom of the list. It(and it's brother Quaker State) tend to slug up and not **** as well as say, Castrol GTX, or any synthetic. It's just not very good oil, but it is cheap!

Pennzoil aye? My friend ran his Oldsmobile 89 for 250,000 miles with Pennzoil regular petroleum. Personally I just go get the $.89 Murrays oil or Pep-Boys Proline because Pennzoil and Proline are typically the same exact oil in different bottles but much cheaper. With a nice AC Delco filter no problems mate!

I use Mobil 1 but I think if one religiously checks and changes the oil and filter regularly (3000 mi), doesn't run up to 6500 RPM in every gear all the time and doesn't let the engine overheat, the engine will be okay with any well known and advertised motor oil.

WIldstar, if you would like to get together in the DFW area with other sho owners, go to the Lone Star Sho club part of this website, and get the details!!

Mike, when Scott Patterson reads this post, he will put up the 2 pictures of the sho engines one with penzoil and one with castrol. Then make your decision. You really can't tell what's going on inside until you really look.

I'm surprised you haven't figured out who I am, Jeremy. Think Fall Run, think really loud exhaust, think "the guy who got MikeDs Gen II mirrors on his Gen I". Got it figured out, yet? :)

I am glad I made the choice to use Castrol GTX after seeing those pictures. I never went to synthetic becuase I didn't know how the previous owner took care of the car. When the SHO arrived with a quart low I was not happy. So, looking over the oil charts and numbers, I thought Castrol GTX would be the oil for me, and what better filteration than a Mobil 1 oil filter for the 7,000 rpm trips. :)

Dang, you Kerby, quit trying to be so damn secretive!! If you would've had a picture of your sho vibrating the camera with your exhaust, that would've been a dead giveaway!!!
