When I did my install, I just slapped everything in. So here are a few pics of my system.

So I ask ... What's In Your Trunk ???

amp1.jpg

Here is my Bandpass Amp (Sticker says it all). You can also see the speaker above it. Its a 5x7 powered by the amp below.
amp2.jpg

Interior Speaker Amp. This amp controls all interior speakers. Both amps are controled by the head unit. My system if FAR from done. I still have to add a cap and a dry cell as well as other things. Hopefully this summer it will all be done for competion.

So guys .. SHO me your pics !!

Ooohhh my...that is some heavy duty equipment you got there. As for what's in my trunk, swapped in a set of Cerwin-vega 6x9s, powered by a 77watt rms Rockford-fosgate 160.2 amp (oops, speakers only hold 60 rms, thank goodness for service plans!). As soon as I get around to it (got the cash, but it's going elsewhere
biggrin.gif
) I'm going to put in another amp for some Vega 6.5s. ****** donor, huh Rickie?

In my trunk? Set of jumper cables, 5-qt. jug of Castrol GTX 10W-30, extra gallon of antifreeze, a funnel, some shop rags, and Shop Towels on a Roll, all in Wal-Mart plastic bags

Oh...just stock amps & speakers, and a pretty bad-ass looking MTX external crossover left by the previous owner. Just got a dual 8" bandpass box too, one of those cheap off-brands. The speaker cones are purple with sparkles, and the speakers don't sound that great. The magnets are about the same size as the one on that 5x7 in Rickie's trunk. They are going.

Now that I think of it, can anyone recommend some 8" subs that perform well for a decent price? I'm not looking for competition-level thump, just enough to make myself known and balance with the tweeters I'm going to be putting in.

In my trunk I have 2 12" MTX 6000 series subs powered by an MTX 425watts RMS bridged amp. All in a custom built sealed box with some awesome kicker grills (spikes into the center). For the sub amp I have a .5 farad Monstercap. Also I have a Alpine 75wattx4 channel max amp that powers the speakers. I have 6.5 Pioneers in the front, and Polk 5x7 in the back. Both are 2-way. Then I have 2 sets of Kicker tweeters both mounted at the top of the molding. Creates a very nice surround sound. Also balances out the bass. This is all controlled by a Kenwood head unit with a fold down face. I also have a Kenwood CD changer that directly connects to the head unit. The wiring is all Monster Cable. For the amps I used a 4gauge wire and had it split into 2 8gauge. I installed it all myself in my SHO. It was hard, but now you can hear me about 2 blocks away. Cost around $1500 and its a small system but it puts out so much.
I plan to add a Kenwood Equalizer later on.

$1500 is a SMALL system??! I paid a total of like under 500 for my system. It includes Panasonic cqdf-801 Head unit, MA audio 5.25's front, MA 5x7's rear, power acoustik sub amp and and Orion HCCA 10" sub, not to mention my video screen that I haven't installed yet, because I don't have a DVD player yet (coming soon).

**** yes $1500 is a small system.

I have:

Alpine CDA-7875 headunit
Infinity Reference 5.25" component (front)
Infinity Kappa 5x7" (rear)
Kenwood eXcelon 301 amp (800W to the subs)
(3) JL Audio 10" W6 subs in a sealed box

I think I paid nearly $1600 for all of this stuff.

Subs + box = $400 (used)
Deck = $400
speakers = $400
amp = $400

I like the way it sounds. It could definately stand to sound _MUCH_ better.

I'm going to get a couple new amps (higher power for the subs, and a 4-channel for the speakers), probably spend close to a grand on those, but I'll sell my 301.

After all is said and done, total system cost will be over $2000.

And that ain't anywhere near a competition quality system.

Great guys !! Thx for all the input. I'll be taking more pics of the door and rear deck speakers as well. Also when I start upgrading the system even more. The trunk is gonna get a "Spring Makeover". It seems the MDF custom board for the amps is stopping some of the bass travel to the interior.

So back to the drawing boards for me and keep the posts coming.

Right now all I've got in there is a spare tire, but I'm planning on getting Polk Audio 12's(not the Momo's, they're too much) powered by some kind of MTX amp, and I will more then likely be moving my PC back there as well. It got kicked too much underneath my pass. seat this season.

Let me know.

My Solobarics are not L7s, they are in a custom box and I am working on getting a pics posted. I have a Kicker ZR1000 amp powering them. The reason I have 4-10s and not 2-12s is simply because I am not looking for SPL (sound pressure level), I am looking for sound quality. Plus they pound alot harder than 2-12s would in my opinion

Of course I give discounts to SHOforum members. To NESHOC members as well. Here is what i carry so far:

Aiwa ~ JVC ~ MA Audio ~ MTX ~ Cerwin~Vega ~ PIAA ~ StreeGlow ~ Varad ~ Vision Lighting ~ Whistler ~ Dynamat ~ Lighting Audio

I'm also going to start to carry other names as well. I'm small and just starting out. But being in the install/radio field for some time,I hope to make it grow big enough to be happy.
