The tube where the thermostat is connected? Not sure. The crossover tube is part of the intake where the DIS is, lol.

well, yes it connects to thermostat, but it runs under intake, under the fuel rails too. when i slip the thermostat housing on, it slips over this hardpipe. with a built in gasket. this gasket is rotted and causing coolant to escape.

Yup! The tube technically has two o-rings one on each end. When I did my front 60k I just pulled it out of the thermostat housing and replaced both while the water pump was out. I cleaned the tube and checked it for any cracks as well.

The intake doesn't necessarily have to come off. You either need to take the thermostat assembly off of the heads completely, or pull the water pump.

Neither really require the intake being pulled.

ok, I was in process of deleting, since realizing, how to get access to leaking ring gasket. Just remove TBody & thermostat housing. . Just wish I had the right size ring G. Sitting around, so I could just do it tonight.

Taking the intake off these things makes EVERYTHING easier.

Even mowing the lawn and cooking steaks, just to name a couple things.:nut:

Do not have the intake gasket set, incase i need it. Been apprehensive about removing it, but everyone / ya'll make it seem pretty straightforward and quick. I have just removed Throttle Body once, so I'm not so stressed with the idea of removing it. I have to wait till tuesday for the water crossover gasket set, from Autozone. My goals are to get the intake off & then vcovers and install the well plug gaskets I have and check shim specs.

Yeah, after you do it 5 times!

Seriously though, take your time and you'll be fine. I mark every bolt in baggies just to be safe.

Also, be careful when you put the intake back on. The vacuum lines and other loose wires have a habit of getting caught.
