I was just writting about this in another topic and was curious. Im on #4. headbang Ive always felt the transmission was the weak link in my SHO. When i had the last one put in they told me a shift kit was put in. It still feels weak though. 20,000 left on the warranty makes me really not care for now.

2 in my 89 SHO. Typical diff pin stuff. I have gone through about six clutches over the years though.

My POS Dodge Ram on the other hand, is on the third tranny since I got it. Right after the warranty expires; Ramboom! I will never buy another Chrysler product.

I bought my car from the original owner, and as far as I know he never had the tranny replaced. So that brings my grand total to 1, the original, with 86k. I am greatful, but I know it is coming up and I am not looking forward to it. Hopefully I didn't just jinx myself by saying this.(knock on wood)

#1 and hoping it stays that way for quite awhile, although the damn thing shifts hard sometimes at low speeds, and forgets to downshift, not liking that to much...

All that at less than 40k, and I changed the filter and fluid on time.

Just turned over 113,000 and still on the initial transmission that was in the car at 23,000 when I purchased it back in the spring of '99.

Did have to put in a new IAC the other day, and a new lock switch on the front passenger door, but both covered under ESP. :)

I replaced the transmission in my 96 Duratec SLO this year at around 90,000, thus setting off a maelstrom of other repairs to put right everything I've let disintegrate over the last 5 years :D

on #2 right now
#1 failed right around 101K i believe
I'm at 102k miles right now and I think mine is getting close to rebuild time. It's had the pump drive shaft and shaft bushing replaced and that's it so far. However, now it doesn't seem to like stop and go traffic. It shifts great when I'm ******* it but when I'm in stop and go traffic it's pretty rough.

'98 SHO: 86k miles, 1st tranny. Transmission fluid flush every 36k miles. I did install an auxiliary tranny cooler though at around 72k miles.

'94 GL: 106k miles, 1st tranny. No problems whatsoever here; been using Mobil 1 ATF and flushing the transmission every 30k miles.

This is quite an interesting topic and what a time for it. My first tranny failed at 75K miles and the second was replaced by Ford to the tune of $2500. At roughly 50K miles, it is gone yet again and needs replacing. I will be damned if I buy another tranny from Ford or give that company one more cent! My SHO was a lemon from the beginning. That doesn't mean that every Ford vehicle is a pile of doo doo. Still, I will never ever buy another newer product from them because the consumer care they fail to show is unacceptable. My warranty is over on this second tranny but still, it should last more than 50K miles considering it was driven very easily. Tranny failures on the SHO are a dime and are so easily and quickly ignored by Ford. If they stood by their customers and did what was morally right, I would buy another but seeing that they don't care about me, **** with them. Chalk this up to experience.

WOW! eek! You are one lucky man I would say!
Shhhhhh....you'll jinx me.

I beleive it's the first one at least. I bought it from Mike Holhut so who knows if him and Kirk ever replaced it before me. i don't believe they did though. that was one of the reasons Mike got rid of it I believe. because with all the abuse it made it that far.

number two over here. Replaced by ford esp ~65k, currently at 69k, since then I think the tc has been acting up. too lazy to take it to ford until the problem is 100% clear.

89k on my 97 SF and I believe it's still on #1. No history on the car though so who knows? shrug All in all it's shifting perfectly (knock on wood)

. '94 ATX, believe to be stock original trans, 134K, lazy, slow shifting (especially at WOT) but otherwise fine.
. '97 Sable wagon 3.0, original, 110K, just starting to get morning sickness going into drive, otherwise perfect.

Both cars are super clean, especially for PA. Previous owners must've been pretty fussy.
