Ok so I need to replace my water pump and I was wondering if there was anything else while I have it off? Any performance upgrades that would be recommend while I have everything apart? The car has 128,000 miles on it and I have no idea of the maintiance that has been done to it.

Thanks,
Mike

Hi, welcome to the forum... the search button is your friend... but today I am in a friendly mood so here ya go :)

The water-pump should be replaced as a part of the '60k' service... here a write up on the front part.
http://www.shophoenixproject.com/lower60k/lower60k.htm

There is also a portion to be done to the top... search around and you will find tons of answers. If you do your 60ks and rod-bearings, your sho will last a long long time :)

Crank sensor and timing belt at the minimum, and inspect the cam seals and any signs of leaks do them too.

If your going as far as the timing belt, just change the cam seals, they're cheap and easy (well, relatively... ). and since you have to pull the CPS (cam position sensor) to change the cam seal, might as well change that too...

Thanks guys and I have used the search button and have found lots of information lol.......almost looks as though I am rebuilding everything, just wondering if you would change anything to a performance related pieces while it was apart. I will be doing the Taylor wires I believe just didn't know of anything else that I could upgrade too.

You could put an Accel super coil on there... as far as the 60k goes though there really is not much else performance-wise besides wires and plugs... You could clean out the intake, if it is all carbon'd up you will see a significant difference... But in all reality a good 60k makes the car run, and feel ALOT better.

There are always the standard, Underdrive pullys(udps) and Big Bore Butterflies (bbb's) etc. But the SHO doesn't respond as well to bolt ons as other motors... I say if you got money left over, get some good tires and some suspension stuff... way better bang for the buck as far as the fun to drive factor...

I agree with above about the crank sensor. I wish that I would have done mine last year along with the water pump. Now I get to tear it all apart again!

How do I change the Cam shaft seals because mine are leaking which has caused my check engine light to come on.
