Cut 'em! I swear I am going to name my car "Dremel". So I was getting a bit mad the other day working on my car trying to get my HVAC system out with no luck. I find out that I am out of luck trying to get the A/C lines to disconnect. I even bought the special scissor tool to do it ($7 wasted). I"m about ready to haul this piece of junk to a boneyard when I have an idea. Actually, it was suggested by my brother: cut them. So I did.

Okay, so I promised myself that I would stop breaking things to get stuff off, but heck, A/C just adds weight anyway. I could just cap the A/C system and glue the button, remove the compressor, condensor, evaporator and the lines. I'll make more room (tranny cooler? Do MTXs use them?), lose some weight, and never have to futz with the A/C again. Sure my EATC system will be the less for it, but I live in Seattle. We have five days a year where I will use it.

So for the second part, I was thinking of picking your brains and numbering the components in my pictures to help myself and others when doing this themselves. There are no real good writeups, and the one decent one has been taken off. Anyway, tell me what you think (about the A/C and stuff).

(edit, spelling and links)

Okay, so I need some help identifying this stuff if you can. I numbered the pictures, however I just realized that picture one and picture two have the same numbers. Ah well, just let me know what pictures correspond to the item and I will sort it out.

Picture 1:

hvac_front.jpg

1. A/C Line (input, output?)
2. A/C Line (input, output?)
3. Heater Core headers
4. Vacuum Supply for HVAC (operates the little door on the passenger side)
5. Blower Motor
6. Firewall mounting studs

Picture 2:

hvac_rear.jpg

1. A/C ???
2. Heater Core
3. ??? (same as 4 on other P1)
4. ??? (some sort of vacuum actuator)
5. A/C Line (input, output? Same as 1 on P1)
6. Air hose
7. Blend Door Motor
8. Random Electrical
9. Random Electrical

Cool, that rounds it out.

Anyone know what the purpose of 8, 9, 10 on the bottom are?

Hmm, no clue, but here is a link to the writeup that got taken down. I managed to track it down by emailing the guy. It will not be up forever, so you may want to save the page to your computer, although it probably won't be that much use to you since you already have everything apart!
