So, about a week ago, I installed a line converter in my SHO, and hooked up my amp to power a sub. So, I get it all hooked up and it sounded great. Awesome... but not, the day after I got everything all hooked up, things went defunk. When I turned off the radio, all I got was a loud hum from my subwoofer. An ambient noice/signal. How friggin' stupid is that... So, what I'm asking is how do I get rid of this signal, and what might possibly be causing it? Would changing RCA wires get rid of this stupid problem? Any ideas would greatfully be appreciated. Thanks.

i have the same problem. if i turn the radio off by pushing in the volume button my subs give off a humm that will blow your ears. i cant figure out why it does that. its not a big deal though just annoying when i accidently turn the radio off

i had that problem on my 93.. dont know what caused it.. other than the amp still being on with the radio off....
i think thats what i did... hooked the amp remote to one of the signal wires for the rear amps... IIRC its a yellow wire... not too sure...

and is someone a family guy fan???

right that hum is caused by the subs having no signal. So make sure your remote wire is run to the amp and all hooked up correctly. as long as the amp shuts off when you stereo does, that should go away:thumb:

looking back on it.. i had my remote wired into my radio fuse.... (not the best way, but easy...) so even though you turn the radio off, there is still power going to it...
did you run your remote off the radio fuse? or something else that is constant on with the key on?
I'll go double check, and see if its the right color wire...
EDIT: no, i was wrong, it is the solid blue wire... but an easy way to check would be to turn the radio on, and probe which one has power, then try that same wire with the radio off.... thats what i did with my current setup... (works fine)

You need to find the black wire with a pink line in it back on the power antenna. Use one of those red splice things that allow you to get power from the wire without cutting it. I think you should be able to figure what I'm talking about. Run that wire (spliced from black/pink) to your amp. It powers on and off with the radio.

Good luck.

I'm pretty sure that I spliced it into the black and pink wire. And the amp remained on after the radio was turned off. If I could find a wire that I could splice into that would turn signal to the amp off the same time the radio is turned off I'd be good.

And yes, I'm a Family Guy fan.... lol.

solid blue wire... or just probe till you find one.

Oh, woops... that's my bad.

Also, would that blue wire happen to be in the trunk, near the factory amplifier?

...well I spliced into the factory wiring when I first got my SHO and this is what i was told to do. I used this black/pink wire and wired it into my sub amp... which is supposed to be the blue turn on lead.

Yeah, I spiced my amp turn on signal into the black/pink wire. And my amp remains on, even if the radio isn't. So, I don't think that is the wire we're looking for. So, again, which wire is the one that is only hot when the radio is on?

How old is your amp? Ive seen an amp that doesn't turn off, ever unless power was disconnected. Nice amp too, Alpine V12

What year is your car?

Should be the red and pink wire coming out of the rear amp. AKA the power antenna turn on wire.

AHA!! I knew it wasn't the black/pink, that doesn't even go to the antenna... I have a 97. The wire comes out of the rear of the amp?
