Do you have picks of the 16"?
And why not go with the 17"?

because 16's are better.

Anyway, go with 225's they will be better matched to the rim, actually pretty perfect for the rim, and also look better;)

personally I would go with a 55 series sidewall, I think the sho looks weird with a 50 series.

With 225/55s the speedo will read 1mph slow at 65. If you don't mind a large tire 235/55s will only be .1% larger diameter and 10% wider section width vs the stock 215/60s. (5% wider than the 225/55s)

I have 225/50s on the slicers on my DD '90. When my '93 had 17x7s I had 245/45 tires.

i am also running 225-50-16's on slicers, i love the added traction, with a 7" wide rim 235 would def. be my choice. go as wide as you can and you will thank yourself later on off ramps and curvy roads. the small side wall will also help alot with handling.

would 235/50/16 or 235/55/16 be too much for a 7" wheel with a 42mm offset? anyone above have any pics?

I have 225/55/16s on Gen 3 rims w/.03mm spacers on an 89. I have rubbing when it bottoms out, sounds like the front spoiler is scraping the road. As far as I know the suspension is factory stock. Also the rear driver side I can't get a finger between the fender and tire. Do I need a different size tire? Thanks, Ron

225/55s are as good as it gets with a 16" wheel.

235/50s might be nice, but I doubt they'd fit out back, so you wouldn't be able to rotate them.

I've actually run 245/50's on Gen 3 rims (16x6.5") before, but I don't recommend it if you want decent performance in the curves. The sidewall flex was noticeable. I currently use 225/55's on slicers for the winter with no problems.

All that said, don't go with 215's on a 7" wide rim; 225's are perfect.

What about 225/60/16's ??? They are almost exactly the same diameter as the stock 215/65/16.

Everyone seems to go with the 225/55/16's, but they have a smaller diameter than te stock size...

65 side wall would be huge...that size would almost be big on a 15 in wheel.

on a 16x7 225 x 55 mmmmaaaayyyyybbbee a 60 if you want, 65 is close to a light truck tire...

Nah - I was qouting the stock size as the 65 profile. I did read that thread - good info. I'm just wondering: Is ANYONE running 225/60/16's ??? The SHO wheel wells look a bit goofy without being properly filled.

FWIW:
215/65/16 = 26.9"dia
225/60/16 = 26.6"dia
225/55/16 = 25.7"dia = Speedo error!
