The SHO will run on any octane according to Ford, what is everyone using so far and has anybody noticed a difference from say 89 to 92 in performance. I have noticed in my G8 GT that when I run 89 versus 87 I have better gas mileage and seems to run better. When I go with 92 there is no real difference in mpg but the performance is better. Of course I put my foot down more too!:)

I have only used 93 octane and would like to try 94 octane but only a few stations carry it. My thinking is I paid 41K for this beast so I mine as well put in the best gas I can find to get the most out of the motor. just MHO.

OldSalt, See you have a ingot silver, mine is going to be the same, can't wait supposed to be built next Tuesday.....I agree with you on the octane, might just use the best and let the computer figure it out for us!

I only got my SHO a couple of weeks ago, but I was advised to run 93 octane in it, so that's all I use.

Some cars are made to run on lower octane gas. Toyota for example.

I always run what the car tells me to. My SHO says premium, I run premium.

This car has only seen Sunoco 93... I drove it right to the station when I picked it up. My salesman is a friend of mine, so he knew not to fill it with their gas. I just gave him the receipt.

I use 87 90% of the time, and put higher octane when going to the track. I cant feel a difference at all.

Same here. Regular. What a pleasure after 5 years with an Infiniti that said premium only.

Amazing how turbo technology has changed over the years. My first car with a turbo was a 86 Mustang SVO. It had a 2.3 liter turbo/intercooled motor that had a switch for using premium gas. If you had low grade gas and left the switch on premium all **** would break loose! spark knock and detonation big time. It also had a power band of about 4000 to 5000 rpm and that was it. I guess todays computers are really fantastic.....when they work anyway! LOL...

I run 93 in all my vehicles, except my '99 SHO, and that's mainly because the others require it. The new SHO gets the supposed 365 HP with high test gas, it'll be lower power numbers if you use the lesser octane. The cpu will make the necessary adjustments with the lower octane gas to reduce detonation and pinging.

I can't remember where I read it, but supposedly, 87 octane will yield 10 less hp.

Yup, I read that too but can't remember where either. :nut:

87 Octane all the time. Have seen as high as 28.4 mpg on the highway.

I just got back from a trip and averaged 26.9 miles. I think hitting the 80 mph mark is what kept my mileage from increasing. If I'd have kept it lower it would have gotten better I hope.
