Here's what I've observed in my SHO:
Downshift to 1st gear at speeds 33mph and under
Downshift to 2nd gear at speeds 65mph and under
Downshift to 3rd gear at anything above 65mph

If you're going 70-75 it should downshift into third and third gear is good to 130mph or so. From personal research (don't tell my wife) I've found that if you let the transmission shift on its own it'll usually shift from 3 to 4 around 105-110. If you turn O/D off then as I said you can hold 3rd gear to an easy 130.

You should hear a definite wooshing or increase in air intake sound around 3400rpm if your secondaries are working. If you don't, they're either stuck closed or stuck open.

+1. The tranny is calibrated for max downshift speeds of 35 and 65 for 1st and 2nd respectively. 55mph is the "money shot" for downshifting to 2nd. Higher than that and you run out of RPMs too quick in 2nd, any lower and it bogs. If you get a TwEECer, you can change all that stuff around.

TwEECer isn't available for the Gen 3...yet. I talked to Axianator about it recently.

From the factory 2-1 is 32 mph, 3-2 is 65 mph and 4-3 is 95 mph. These are the values in the program and do not necessarily reflect the actual world.

What speed does your speedo show at 2500 RPM in steady cruising in overdrive?

You may be driving around with no overdrive...
