Hey,

I was cleaning out the intake path (cone filter, maf, tubing) and discovered that I have an upgraded MAF, but I'm not sure where the MAF came from, it's marked Ford on the top but I don't know if the cars is tuned for it or not and I suspect it is the reason the car is running rich if the LPM isn't tuned..

Obviously I need to know what MAF this is and if it even needs a tune before I invest in an LPM.

Looks like a T-bird (non SC) MAF, though in your picture it looks to neck down a bit more. Could just be the angle.

Can I assume that means it's P&P (same electronics=same output voltage curve) ?! If so awesome! Thanks toolman :)

It means someone put a stock SHO sensor into a Tbird housing and put it on your car. You wont see any gains with it.

I have one similiar to that. Mine is of Econoline. I was thinking about using it in one of my cars with stock sensor, but with a tune, of course.

Yeah, definitely no gains, and it's not unlikely that you'll have some losses. Swap it out for a stocker.

That was my plan, I'll do that today... but will this sensor be of any use in the future as I dip into some FI?

The maf is a 70mm maf from a 93 mustang cobra. plug n play, but probably no gains without an lpm.

Thanks for chiming in :) I'm contemplating UDP's so an LPM would come with that so I'd be able to have them dial it in.

BTW your signature rocks!!

It's funny, this thread appeared right after I bought a MAF that looked like this off ebay for dirt cheap... It looks just like the one in the picture, but the seller says it is an 80mm. Any ideas?

Hey anyone! I got the MAF in the mail, and I think it might be the same cobra MAF. It has the same F1ZF electronics on it. I measured the inlet diameter at 82mm and the outlet diameter at 74mm. Does this sound like yours Vortex?

I don't have any calipers but I can say those measurements are pretty close to what I can tell from using a metric ruler. I don't see much use in this unless you are going FI but I swapped out for a stocker and didn't notice any difference between the two... Then again being as the MAF is bigger it made need to tune to account for the lower intake pressure at the MAF, I'm not sure though.

I'm not going FI, but I have an LPM so I might as well run the larger one with the tune. Thanks man.
