so I bought this used flywheel from here and not 100% sure who made it, I didn't buy it from the original purchaser, so the guy who sold it to me isn't really 100% sure what it is.....

I need to send it in and get it worked on as its being a lil ****** and not wanting to cooperate, I don't want to send it to the wrong company so if anyone can help me identify positively what this flywheel is, I am in deep gratitude to you.........

thanks

Looks like an Aluminum Fidanza to me. 18 screws on the insert (newer style, very old ones had 20).

If I had to guess I'd say its an old shoshop 8lb, I have one now but IIRC it looks slightly different then that but I could be wrong.

the bolts are stuck on it, one broke

I've broken 3 snap-on sockets trying to get the screws loose to replace the steel contact area..... even used impact drivers, air guns, I've tried it all

I've contacted fidanza and they said they'd fix it but wouldn't warranty it or give me a new one

either the company who made it or the ******* who installed a new steel insert put one screw in cockeyed and cause the insert to distort and that screw broke off when I tried to remove it......

this is what I get for buying used parts and saving money, now I coulda bought a new one off ebay for cheaper... and thats even if they can fix it........ I pretty much bought a $150 dollar paper weight =(

That is a SHO Shop Aluminum Flywheel. And the "*******" did the right thing and used Locktite red to install it.

SHO Source now has these and they are going up on the website this week. IMHO this unit is 10 times better then the Fidenza and a few dollars cheaper. The updated version now has the insert riveted in. To change it, drill the rivets out and re-rivet the new insert in.

Why don't you drill out the screws and rivet the new insert in place? If you want it serviced by the manufacturer, contact us at SHO Source and we will find out how much it is to have it done.

yeah I was in contact with LoudSho awhile ago about this but it took me awhile to get some pics of it as my camera got lost.....

the screws aren't loctited... atleast I don't think so, I don't recall seeing anything on the few screws I got out and there is nothing in the holes of the flywheel

and loctite doesn't grip this hard LOL...... I'm telling u these sons of bitches are stuck really good.... like welded

none of us at work or my dad's shop can get the screws out... we are all dumbfounded

thats why I want to send it to the manufactuer...........

and honestly, I've never used rivets for anything but window motors so I'm kinda skeptical about me doing it on my flywheel, I'd like to leave that up to the flywheel manufactuerer......

shoot me a PM maybe we can figure out what it would take to fix mine... wether its ordering a new insert for me or sending mine into the manufactuer to fix it.......

Aluminum Flywheels

I'm not a big fan of aluminum flywheels for a street car, but that insert looks good to me. Why are you removing it?

its almost wore down to the screw heads, and one screw wasn't straight when put in so it fuct up the steel ring there causing a high spot, and it also smushed towards the crankshaft part as well...... its messed up...... and worn....

the last picture I posted, look at about the 1 oclock position of the flywheel, thats where i broke a screw off, look at whats left of the screw in comparison to the hole in the steel insert and how crooked it is, also notice how the inner edge of the steel insert looks deformed..... you can't see the heigth difference, but i I can feel and see it in person, its bad
