Since getting it back from the stealership for extensive repairs, the plastic engine cover no longer securely sits on the three pegs. Upon further investigation, it seems the culprit in these small vacuum hoses and the small sensor they plug into that is mounted at the top of the intake manifold. I cannot for the life of me understand why one would be directed upwards. I am hoping for some point of reference to know what it should look like so I can fix this and secure the engine cover properly. See attached pics. Thanks in advance.A9ba40f3d351ef31b022cfb82462036b29ffce6103a040998b6ed12f35b5ae5f2c04e8077ab0c8e82971f805f1a96d53083a7f62878e8eaad6e1dc44d0f16976

That sensor is oriented 90° up to far.
And it looks like it’s mounted to high on the intake.
I’ll snap a pic in a few min

Yep. It appears the mount clip is missing from yours and they rigged it up. 8922424735696c5b47b9a1453c92e8386b497139c76806ff3c8061e97a9449b6

Damn... Alright. That's what I figured. These guys did a real effing hack job putting this thing back together. They broke one of the female posts on the cover itself, probably trying to force the cover down. Alright, now that I know what it's supposed to look like, I will see what I can do. Appreciate the help.

I’d demand they do it right! And install a new cover too!
I would... But I have a lawsuit pending with them... So I doubt they are going to even talk to me. And yes, the lawsuit is actually over the sale of the SHO to me. Someday I will do a full write up on it.

Thus the reason I don't let the dealer touch my car unless it is a warranty claim.

That's the only reason they touched it. Bought used and had 60 day warranty. They had it in the shop for a total of 25 days during my initial 60 days of ownership across 5 visits.

how many attempts at repairs? Probably different state to state of course. But here it’s 3 attempts I believe, and then vehicle is under lemon law

Connecticut lemon laws suck. It was there for various issues. They would fix one thing and break another. There is no right to return in CT unless they have it for more than 30 days.

Finally had some time to get under the hood and work on this. Was able to reposition the sensor so that it lays flat now and the cover went back on properly.

In other news, we finally sent the demand letter to the car dealership with an offer to settle. They have until the end of the month to get back to us before we take them to court. Will keep posted as situation develops and I am allowed.

Anyways wanted to close the loop on this, thank you to all who helped me solve this mystery.

In any line of repair, you can't put a price on a good technician. I've worked on various different things over the last 25 years, and I no longer believe in "lemons". I have seen a ton of horrible technicians that had no business working on things, and the problems always disappear when a good tech takes over, and the "lemons" always follow the same guys. The bad ones are usually very easy to spot because they talk way too much and often talk you in circles.

Good luck getting your issues settled, sounds like a dealer that you never want to give another dime to.
